yeah it's solid not revelatory. glad it's out there. i think "so be it" is still my favorite. "fico," "inglorious bastards," and the mike tyson song are great too

It’s not their best record, but it’s realky, really damn good and I keep unconsciously being drawn back to this track or that. Certain lines, certain inflections.

for some reason I laughed aloud when Tyler pronounced the word "bi-AH-pic."

I did too! even started a poll on Discord for the right way to say it lol

the one track that definitely doesn't work as well for me is "Chains and Whips", because the beat really feels tailored to Kendrick specifically, so the song doesn't really come alive until his verse.

Nas's line is good except for the "cancel me before I become the panther me"

and of course there's

"drugs killed my teen spirit, welcome to nirvana"

but minor quibbles. with better production this mighta been an A, but I'm still bumping this for the third day in a row which is a good sign

what’s a nas verse without a line that makes you cringe a new line into your forehead

i appreciated “chains & whips” more during the tiny desk performance. was fun to see pusha deliver his entire verse straight into the camera without blinking once

This is a classic Pusha-esque line, i.e. it's a terrible thing that reoccurs album after album

The pop choruses ruin this for me when they appear…the first track is touching but I’d like to edit out all the John Legend. It stays good for a while otherwise but around the sixth or seventh track it gets a little blah and as a result I still find myself unable to make it all the way through this 40 minute album…gonna get there sooner or later.

Beats sound like early 2010s and there are some unimpressive feats, but happy whenever Malice's on and it's certainly noticeable for a comeback.
