The third entry in these series are supposed to be the most experimental pick like, Bloom, Blue Rev and True Stories. Therefore giving Tame Impala a try.

Voted Let It Happen for the immediate impact and amazing loop break/bridge. Less I Know the Better very close second.

This one placed at number 51 in ILM Top Albums of 2015.

Surprised it placed at all. Most of ILM isn’t particularly fond of Tame Impala iirc.

this album is pretty good honestly. the backlash has lashed a little too much on this one, but i guess that's to be expected.

the very overblown p4k review and the lackluster follow-up probably didn't help matters

i think "eventually" is the best song-qua-song on here, there are more interesting recordings though

i think the follow-up is like significantly better and v underrated, but it turns out i do like this record (i might have a long ilx history of complaining about tame impala)

Had to vote for Same Old Mistakes purely because of the Rihanna karaoke-cover.

i don't really like this album much, it's so plodding & rhythmically clumsy

Voted Eventually. Really enjoyed this album when it came out, before it saturated the sonic landscape. Had I first heard it a year later in the midst of a devastating breakup, I think I might have connected with it deeper.

Putting all opinions of the music aside, this has got to be some of the most iconic album art of the last 25 years. Robert Beatty's best imho. We should have a poll of his album covers!

mostly it's interesting to hear him make something with a proper groove but i'm not really convinced overall

I did really enjoy re-listening to this this last week, a headphone album this is. In the end going to be boring though and vote for "Let It Happen."

Enjoyed Currents at the time but it grew off me pretty quickly. Except "Let It Happen", which remains comfortably my fav thing they've ever done.

kinda sounds like what i'd imagine an actual tame impala would be like, sad and polite.

this album cover was everywhere for a few years though, it's kind of burned into my brain and i wish i could have that real estate back tbqh

I feel it's really interesting and fits the them of "transition", especially when it's painful to let go of your former self/lover. It's a jarring sound, just like change can be, but it also eventually blends into something new seamlessly once you have healed or normalized said change. Really appreciated that perspective, whether it's intentional or not by Parker.
