Any dumb little thing you enjoy about music consumption that is peripheral to the music itself? For instance I really enjoy the whiplash of longer tracks sequenced next to shorter tracks. I hate when every song is 3-4 minutes long in a row. Why is that boring? It shouldn't matter! Somehow it does. So anyway, that sort of thing... affects the experience and is inherently a part of the presentation but also outside of the music itself.

I love detailed CD booklets. The platonic ideal is the song lyrics turned into a graphic novel interspersed with stories about the recording process.

I love detailed CD booklets
100% this.tis a a massive reason i fell so deep down the finders keepers rabbit hole last year as the cd sleevenotes are insanely detailed.andy votel and the gang really put a lot of effort into the packaging of the cd editions.

For me, since CDs don't really provide a practical use for me anymore, detailed liner notes are definitely one of the only functional reasons I want to hold on to a copy these days.

Nostalgia driven, but I enjoy getting an old vinyl copy with a ridiculous, oversized price sticker like the ones HMV had in the 80s, or even if there's a small sticker (like the ones that come out of a gun) that is branded with the name of some little store that I can try to Google.

Similarly to posts above: generally speaking the CDs I've held onto have specific sentimental or related value or, indeed, are laden with liners galore. Any new CDs I purchase for the collection, a couple of exceptions aside, I do so precisely because of those notes -- they all function as research material to hand for me.

Oh another thing, a little bit of a cliche, but when an mp3 rip has a not too disruptive but somewhat prominent vinyl crackle or tape hiss I am even happier than I would be hearing it without those elements. More texture please!

low digital fidelity on the other hand is ugly and distracting
