So tough, I went with Roadrunner, but nearly went with Love and Happiness and Final Solution.

There are several attractive journey-through-space-and-time type tracks here, but I settled on RICHARD & LINDA THOMPSON – I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight for its clarity, grooviness, and cathartic joy. PERFECT song

"Roadrunner" over "Cortez."

Roadrunner and Heart of the Sunrise are all-time favorites. Like having to choose between two very different by equally adored children.

my favorite of these lists so far. impossible. but gotta vote for 'love and happiness' for personal reasons. it's also a damn fine song and performance, among the best here.

can i just say that 'superstition' still makes me freak? it has lost none of its power for me. it turns a ho-hum moment in the produce section into a spiritual awakening. after hearing it so many times!

i would pay chris l like 10 dollars for a two cd compilation of this list. fuck a streaming playlist, it's too good for that!

Typically, this would be a tough call between "Across 100th Street" and "Cortez the Killer" for me, but "The Ballad of El Goodo" came up on shuffle a few days ago and really hit hard this time, so that.

I was going to go with Big Star until I got all the way to the bottom of the list.

"ballad of el goodo" - i can remember when and where i first fell in love with it, which is rare. i'd picked up the ryko #1 record / radio city cd from the used cd store, i think i was a year deep in college. i think i remember sampling a few tracks in the store and then just going for it, in spite of being into mostly newer music up until that point (it was 2001-2002). anyway i put it on in the car on the drive out down the highway, it was a warm fall late afternoon, the song crashed head-first into all of my pleasure centers.

these songs have left me tear-struck at various times. Didn't realize how much these years are my zone. You also got Don Cherry's "Brown Rice" on the apple playlist, which does the same.
