This one's too hard...

m0stly clean (Slowsquatch), Friday, 29 August 2025 11:32 (one week ago)

Just realized I forgot "Dallas" by the Flatlanders.

Chris L, Friday, 29 August 2025 12:01 (one week ago)

Impossible task but I'll go with Station to Station. Pretty much brings together everything that was amazing about Bowie in his artistic prime.

Zelda Zonk, Friday, 29 August 2025 12:07 (one week ago)

too hard, sorry

tough one, voted Hurley

sleeve, Friday, 29 August 2025 14:38 (one week ago)

Sea Song on account of it being the best song ever, more or less

voted can

nxd, Friday, 29 August 2025 15:12 (one week ago)

Lots great here. Gold star for including Sweet Lady Genevieve. But this is Mother of Pearl.

kornrulez6969, Friday, 29 August 2025 15:14 (one week ago)

Oh wait, it's actually Roadrunner

kornrulez6969, Friday, 29 August 2025 15:15 (one week ago)

So tough, I went with Roadrunner, but nearly went with Love and Happiness and Final Solution.

birdistheword, Friday, 29 August 2025 22:14 (one week ago)

i have narrowed it down to these

BOBBY WOMACK – Across 110th Street
FUNKADELIC – Cosmic Slop
NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE – Cortez the Killer
WILLIAM DeVAUGHN – Be Thankful for What You’ve Got
YES – Heart of the Sunrise

also i am glad somebody agrees with me that supernaut is the best sabbath song (post '71 anyway)

There are several attractive journey-through-space-and-time type tracks here, but I settled on RICHARD & LINDA THOMPSON – I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight for its clarity, grooviness, and cathartic joy. PERFECT song

J. Sam, Saturday, 30 August 2025 00:23 (one week ago)

"Roadrunner" over "Cortez."

clemenza, Saturday, 30 August 2025 00:30 (one week ago)

Roadrunner and Heart of the Sunrise are all-time favorites. Like having to choose between two very different by equally adored children.

nicky lo-fi, Saturday, 30 August 2025 00:46 (one week ago)

my favorite of these lists so far. impossible. but gotta vote for 'love and happiness' for personal reasons. it's also a damn fine song and performance, among the best here.

she freaks, she speaks (map), Saturday, 30 August 2025 01:27 (one week ago)

errare humanum est, only sea song gives me pause

supermeerkat (Deflatormouse), Saturday, 30 August 2025 01:36 (one week ago)

voted Michael Hurley just cos

clouds (peanutbuttereverysingleday), Saturday, 30 August 2025 01:39 (one week ago)

this is absurd. i picked one, but on a different day i could have picked 15 others

mookieproof, Saturday, 30 August 2025 02:59 (one week ago)

can i just say that 'superstition' still makes me freak? it has lost none of its power for me. it turns a ho-hum moment in the produce section into a spiritual awakening. after hearing it so many times!

she freaks, she speaks (map), Saturday, 30 August 2025 15:00 (one week ago)

i would pay chris l like 10 dollars for a two cd compilation of this list. fuck a streaming playlist, it's too good for that!

she freaks, she speaks (map), Saturday, 30 August 2025 15:02 (one week ago)

Nevertheless (and thanks!)

Voted “Bright Lights,” perfect song.

paper plans (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 31 August 2025 01:38 (one week ago)

Typically, this would be a tough call between "Across 100th Street" and "Cortez the Killer" for me, but "The Ballad of El Goodo" came up on shuffle a few days ago and really hit hard this time, so that.

cryptosicko, Tuesday, 2 September 2025 20:16 (one week ago)

*110th

cryptosicko, Tuesday, 2 September 2025 20:17 (one week ago)

I was going to go with Big Star until I got all the way to the bottom of the list.

whimsical skeedaddler (Moodles), Wednesday, 3 September 2025 02:08 (six days ago)

"ballad of el goodo" - i can remember when and where i first fell in love with it, which is rare. i'd picked up the ryko #1 record / radio city cd from the used cd store, i think i was a year deep in college. i think i remember sampling a few tracks in the store and then just going for it, in spite of being into mostly newer music up until that point (it was 2001-2002). anyway i put it on in the car on the drive out down the highway, it was a warm fall late afternoon, the song crashed head-first into all of my pleasure centers.

i went with carpet crawlers for deeply personal reasons, but i hadn't seen sea song ... oh well

budo jeru, Wednesday, 3 September 2025 02:37 (six days ago)

these lists are so good. so good they propel me back to a time, seemingly long gone, when shared affinities for music could spark beautiful friendships. and there's just enough i don't know here to arouse curiosity. you know, wow, i need to be friends with this Chris L guy so he can burn me a CD and i can figure out what Foster Sylvers sounds like! no, don't worry, i'll youtube it. but, you know ...

budo jeru, Wednesday, 3 September 2025 02:42 (six days ago)

or her, sry, i don't know

budo jeru, Wednesday, 3 September 2025 02:43 (six days ago)

these lists are so good.

agreed.

and, i mean-- i just tried to vote for curtis and i've already voted apparently. i don't remember what for. and even if it wasn't curtis, it's a total smasher.

austinato (Austin), Wednesday, 3 September 2025 06:18 (six days ago)

these songs have left me tear-struck at various times. Didn't realize how much these years are my zone. You also got Don Cherry's "Brown Rice" on the apple playlist, which does the same.

CAN – Future Days
DADAWAH – Run Come Rally
JOHN CALE – Paris 1919
NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE – Cortez the Killer
RICHARD & LINDA THOMPSON – I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight
STEVIE WONDER – Superstition
THE KINKS – Sweet Lady Genevive

Primrose Cash Po (bendy), Wednesday, 3 September 2025 18:48 (six days ago)

I think I voted for Dadawah but this list is filled with many of the best songs
