1: four women from osaka = kano, mayu, nazuma and ai (bdgv)
2: jangle-quirk pop-punk i guess format = not my usual taste, but besides being likeable in itself there’s something pleasing to me abt it being reflected back from a distinct cultural distance). a pretty and a melodic melancholy sound: romantic city anomie! ai’s facial expression shape is more often than not :(
3: dont forget the full stop is PART OF THE NAME: 。or •
japanese meanings: white, sky, feather, soul, spring, chief official (plus it’s a brand of vodka made from rice wine)
hawaiian meaning: a crown of flowers
polynesian meaning (possibly unrelated): lord, master, overseer, employer, owner
4: aside from occasional phrases (“i am a naive girl” or “telepathy close” or the rezilloid “i cant stand my baby”) they seem very rigorous about NOT slipping into english
5: new single out today complete with label-upgrade to toy’s factory (doubtless the rot starts here): “それしか言えない” = “sore shika ienai” = “that’s all I can say”
(it may be that varying the grind of the extensive asian tour they just came off has turned them, via between-song by-play with amps, maybe a little sonic youthy 👍🏽 )
6: their break-out moment was last year’s viral youtube hit = a cover of a song by the band MONO NO AWARE (“かむかもしかもにどもかも” = “kamu kamo shikamo ni-domo kamo” = “maybe I’ll bite”) which is daft and charming and a little untypical — except that ai has repurposed some of its high-speed tongue-twister delivery for the new song
