Would love Pulp to win again, but it should probably go to PinkPantheress.

Don't really get what the fuss is about with CMAT but I have friends that love her and think she is the favourite.

"Fancy That showcases Pink's signature vocals and genre-blurring sound that mixes UK garage with drum and bass, pop, electronic, and y2k-nostalgia"

A mix of garage, dnb and electronic!

Don't think I've ever actually heard Sam Fender.

Every song I've heard by Sam Fender sounds absolutely identical. I thought it was War On Drugs the first time I heard him on the radio.

I wonder if anyone ever hires Adam Granduciel and says "I don't want this to sound like your band." I'm not being facetious, that happened with Bob Dylan once where he complained "this sounds like the E Street Band!" and the engineer immediately thought "then why did you hire Steve Van Zandt and Roy Bittan?"

Saw Sam Fender live at a festival this summer, he turned the last fifteen minutes of the concert into a Free Palestine demo, so that was cool. Shame about the rest of it, but oh well.

He got airplay on the radio at the same timer Bruce Springsteen announced all those unreleased records, and for a long time I thought it probably was something from that. It sounded like something Bruce Springsteen made, but decided wasn't good enough.

I like Sam a lot but didn't think this was his strongest record by a long chalk - a lot of the best songs ended up as b-sides and they didn't really commit to the Granduciel production. Seems like an odd choice.

Prize ceremony was in Newcastle this year, so it does look a bit like they're giving it to the local act. But given he already has Brit Awards, it seems a rather redundant choice for the supposedly "alternative" Mercury.

xpost I see there's a "special" version coming out for Christmas.
