Defend The Indefensible: Stomp Clap Hey

I am firmly in favour of inventing genre names retrospectively, and this is definitely one that makes sense. This one's especially good because even if you aren't familiar with the name, you know very well what it is, don't you?

Trash Theory has a history of it here, which I thought was good

Obviously this stuff has been covered a great deal on this board, and I cannot pretend that I love any of it, but who knows maybe it will sound interesting in some way in 10-20 years. And maybe there will be a revival at some point, so best pin it down now.

credit to akm, who identified it but didn't get the name quite right:

campfire stomp music: dud or dud

any history of this that doesn't name the Misfits as predecessor is kidding itself. this stuff travels through a specific strain of meathead punk to the brains of the youth

The Havalinas were proto-stomp clap from 1989/90. I bought this album in high school, I think because the drummer from the Plugz plays on it, and didn't hate it. This was their single, which Bruce Springsteen covered about 10 years ago.

Mr. Big vocals are very un-stompclap. I don't think '80s butt rock, even acoustic, had any impact on this one.

arcade fire were one of the biggest influences on stomp clap stuff (i disagree that they were part of it) so does that mean echo & the bunnymen are really the ones to blame
