Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Friday, 21 November 2025 21:48 (three days ago)

think i meant this for the 'things you hate that are not socially acceptable to hate' thread

Every Lindsey Buckingham song with dogs barking in it are fab.

Every Paul McCartney song with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reggae on the b-side are far from fab.

Hideous Lump, Friday, 21 November 2025 22:07 (three days ago)

both great maybe even perfect

ivy., Friday, 21 November 2025 22:45 (three days ago)

i like them both, Holiday Road is a minor masterpiece, Wonderful Christmastime is more "just okay" but tbf I'm not English and haven't been subjected to it ad nauseam since birth. once or twice a year it's nice

budo jeru, Friday, 21 November 2025 23:01 (three days ago)

"Holiday Road" is not explicitly a Christmas song (I don't think), so I guess it squeaks by.

Instead of create and send out, it pull back and consume (unperson), Friday, 21 November 2025 23:13 (three days ago)

Wonderful Christmastime is a great song, so Holiday Road is probably more annoying.

Likewise I don't know Holiday Road and Wonderful Christmastime is the BEST

Never understood why Wondefgul Christmastime so often gets tagged with the "annoying and hated" label when Happy Xmas (War Is Over) is RIGHT THERE

Hah, wow I did not know there was an official Dubmas Time. Here's my own silly "version" I made last year

Oh wait, it's your version - I remember now!

I don't think I've ever heard the latter song in public.

Instead of create and send out, it pull back and consume (unperson), Friday, 21 November 2025 23:45 (three days ago)

What?! Oh man that still gets played a LOT in the UK. I only really encounter Beatles-related songs in the wild at Christmas these days

That song is such a drag (the happy Xmas one)

brimstead, Friday, 21 November 2025 23:47 (three days ago)

It sucks

Now read it backwards. (dog latin), Saturday, 22 November 2025 00:18 (two days ago)

Well, I mean, it's a solo John Lennon song. Of course it sucks.

Instead of create and send out, it pull back and consume (unperson), Saturday, 22 November 2025 00:42 (two days ago)

like em both

fpsa, Saturday, 22 November 2025 04:36 (two days ago)

I don't think I've ever heard the latter song in public.

Yeah John's song was an omnipresent xmas perennial in the UK when i was growing up (still is?)... in the US it's only Paul's song that I ever hear.

Kim Kimberly, Saturday, 22 November 2025 04:50 (two days ago)

Happy Xmas (War Is Over) has a curiously snide tone for a holiday song

Josefa, Saturday, 22 November 2025 05:41 (two days ago)

In Canada, I've definitely heard both quite a bit growing up.

MarkoP, Saturday, 22 November 2025 06:46 (two days ago)

"the choir of children sing their song/they've practised all year long

oh really paul, they practised an entire year just to sing one christmas song?

ledge, Saturday, 22 November 2025 08:03 (two days ago)

That's that's funny about the song. They've practiced SO HARD just to sing "Ding dong ding dong ding dong ding" slightly out of tune. I love that.

I've heard the Lennon song countless times in the US in public, and many covers of it as well. the McCartney song I've heard a lot too, but never a cover. Not a fan of either
