feel like "sitting in limbo" might get the short shrift, which is too bad, i love its loping blues. at times, it's more of a tearjerker for me even than "many rivers"

"Sitting" is my choice, yeah

Same, the title track, but also yeah.

Memories of a summer garden party in Brighton listening to this LP in 2005, a housemate's staffordshire bull terrier was making great efforts to get everyone's barbecue food as "You Can Get It If You Really Want" played, and we laughed.

I was once destroyed by a soulful campfire rendition of "Sitting In Limbo" on solo acoustic guitar, the chord progression and the verse/chorus contrast is so cool

ever since then it's been my fave but I have super fond 70's memories of the movie/ST in general, the ST was universally popular in our house and my folks took us to see the movie before we could really understand it all.

I remember being very confused by the weird shot of him peeing when he's in the stocks (? some kind of jail?)

Title track for me:

Well, they tell me of a pie up in the sky
Waiting for me when I die
But between the day you’re born and when you die
They never seem to hear even your cry

So as sure as the sun will shine
I’m gonna get my share now, what’s mine
And then the harder they come
The harder they fall, one and all

I mean, duh, answering my own question, "Sitting In Limbo" is another prominent non-reggae track from a reggae act.

"You Can Get It If You Really Want." The best kind of earworm.

Nilsson's version of "Many Rivers to Cross" was my intro

Impossible. 3 way tie with “You Can Get It” just a shade behind the others. But I voted “Many Rivers” because I’ve been listening to numerous versions of it on youtube all day and it’s just the most perfect match of a voice to a song ever, and he seems to have maintained that stunning instrument for basically his whole life

Voted many rivers

ok (D-40), Tuesday, 25 November 2025 08:20 (one week ago)

Yes, it's a colossus of a song.

Tony Bubbles (Tom D.), Tuesday, 25 November 2025 08:24 (one week ago)

Many Rivers, which is fine enough on its own but when you see it in the context of the film it's incredibly moving.
