Oh man - "Slip Away" is almost shoegaze. Just beautiful.

Love this album. Ragged Glory gets all the attention but this has better songs.

Big Time.

Def. underrated album, but I think that's largely because it came at the end of that incredible '90s run. High bar!!!

Skip Away and Music Arcade are beautiful and I love the epic jammers like Big Time, Loose Change and especially Scattered. It’s an immensely satisfying album to play guitar along to. The endless repetition of one chord in Loose Change is glorious, Neil and the Horse taking almost perverse pleasure in how long they can sustain and build it.

Apologies for double post, was getting an error message.

"Music Arcade" for me, but it was tough, I could've easily have gone with "Big Time" and maybe "Loose Change."

Man, Slip Away is even more beautiful than I remembered! It's been a spell since the last time I sank into this album... three years maybe.

Broken Arrow was probably undervalued when it came out — even by me! At the time I thought the long one-chord jams were unnecessary. Flash forward about 10 years and that was pretty much exactly the kind of music I listened to all the time. I love it now.

As the resident bootleg fanatic, I urge BA fans to seek out any/all of the Old Princeton Landing gigs from 96, taped right around the time they were recording the album.

A little self promotion — I thought this podcast I did earlier this year w/ Ethan Miller about "Music Arcade" turned out great: https://www.talkhouse.com/all-one-song-ethan-miller-on-music-arcade/

We should form a Neil Alliance, 'bury.

One-chord jams that go on for ages are basically exactly what I want from a Crazy Horse album, but I accept I approach Neil's body of work from an atypical angle sometimes.

Speaking of which, my current favorite Horse jam is She Showed Me Love. An endearingly-pure-Neil mix of awesomeness and awkwardness in the "song" part, followed in the fullness of time by utter blissssss

ridiculous version for the one-chord jam fans

Props to whoever voted for This Town!

I thought Scattered might see a little more love, but those three epics are so formidable.

TheNuNuNu, Monday, 8 December 2025 07:02 (four months ago)

That was me! I still catch myself singing that one under my breath every now and then

"Scattered" is really great — that big windswept riff sounded nice on the last Crazy Horse tour in 2024.
