Finally catching up with this cat. Everything sounds great. Right now listening to a track from Blues for Bud, aka Spanish Steps, called "Blues Enough," featuring Jimmy Woode on bass and Art Taylor on drums.

I have a budget 4CD set with eight of his albums on it:
Hampton Hawes TrioThis Is Hampton HawesEverybody Likes Hampton HawesAll Night Session Vols. 1-3Four!For Real!
They're all really good, though I admit there are other players I listen to more often.
Raise Up Off Me gets my vote as the best/funniest jazz autobiography ever. It's like a jazz version of The Basketball Diaries crossed with Catch-22.

Nearby branch library has a reference copy. Maybe I will take a walk over and have a peek.

would try my best to participate in any book club type discussion thing.
to divert even more, this immediately made me dig into donald bailey, as i've only ever known him as a sideman. the only thing on spotify right now is this late 70s japanese session where he exclusively honks the bobo: https://www.discogs.com/release/6752225-Donald-Bailey-So-In-Love
it's really pretty, i like it._______________________
