School me on MONDO GROSSO

Like many around here, I got hooked via "Labyrinth" a few years ago and then really got into their 'Attune/Detune' album from a few years ago - but I'm really struggling to make sense of their discography.
Japanese electronic music feels a bit sterile and generic, but there's a melancholy vibe here that makes a lot of their songs stand out.

For instance, this tune for example reminds me of Republic-era New Order

I don't know much about Mondo Grosso, but I am forever baffled by the fact that I managed to find the 12" single of this song of theirs from 2000 at my local thrift shop in central Alberta in 2021:

he's been around for so long and dabbled in so many genres that it's hard to pin down his sound, but you're right that he is good at widescreen emotions.

One of the first things I heard from him is "Hikari (feat. UA)", which feels like a precursor to "Labyrinth" except it came out about 15 years earlier

Big fan of his recent work with girl group exWHYz, which finds a nice balance between idol pop and club-ready electrohouse:

Also this track he produced for now defunct K-pop girl group After School is incredible:
