Conan Osiris' Xenonexo: doing for Portuguese forms what Rosalia does for Spanish

I mean, I personally prefer Osiris, but he wears the comparison well, turning a panoply of classic Portuguese folk styles into cutting-edge pop without breaking a sweat. The album is an unrelenting exhibition and the second half if anything gets stronger. If any of this seems interesting to you, get on board. Of all the things I'm regretting not nominating (by not nominating anything) for the 2025 poll, this is pretty much top - and I've decided that rather than bitching about how ILX never gets around to half the awesome stuff it should, I should just hype it all more aggressively.

You may recall he was Portugal's Eurovision entry a few years ago, btw. That song, rerecorded, is on here too. As he hasn't released any singles from this album (talk about confidence), here it is again as a little foretaste:

And here's a Spotify link to the album

Anyway. It dropped December 28th. Year of Impact rules? You better fuckin believe I'm campaigning for this in the '26 poll lmao

This is pretty interesting imago, not that I got through the whole thing tbh. I know there aren't singles, but if you have standouts, please post them! Rereading your post and now I'm regretting starting on track, it's a lot of music.

Definitely lots of exciting production moves. The main obstacle to my being super into it is his voice is a little drab imo — the Rosalìa comparison isn't doing him any favours there. I get it though, like her or not, I think there might be a small post-Rosalìa effect in european pop, or at any rate I thought about comparing Theodora to her when I started that thread lol

P-Amor-D-Deus, Pi-Noquio, Dois Cisnes and the closing run in general blew my sorry little mind. I get he's not such a vocal presence as Rosalia but the songs, the production, the vision! Glad you've had a listen anyhow
