We're back.

Bee OK, Thursday, 9 July 2026 03:03 (five days ago)

This band has great taste and not much idea what to do with it. "Savage Sea" is the one that feels like more than a grab-bag of their hip influences.

Halfway there but for you, Thursday, 9 July 2026 03:43 (five days ago)

Kind of mind blowing that the band were like 18-19 when they recorded this album!

Tracks 1 (which I guess will win here) and 11 were not on the original album.

And yeah it's remarkable that this was made by teenagers.

Yes, not a great idea including "She's Beyond Good and Evil" in the poll. I admire this album more than I like it, it's a bit of a mess in places but that seems to be how they wanted it as they'd junked a lot of more accessible material before recording it, I prefer the second album tbh. Voted "Savage Sea" for coming completely out of leftfield and still sounding like nothing else but "We Are Time" almost won out.

stanes on the knees and blood on the jumber (Tom D.), Thursday, 9 July 2026 09:08 (five days ago)

I went with "Thief of Fire"

Mark G, Thursday, 9 July 2026 09:59 (five days ago)

They came on the radio a couple years ago while we were driving somewhere. My wife, who's not generally into more extreme sounds, remarked that it's like how you'd imagine Iggy Pop sounded, if you didn't know he didn't. I thought Hell, yeah.

Mark G, Thursday, 9 July 2026 10:02 (five days ago)

(xp) Yes, that's the other standout track.

Ooh this is going to be tough...will probably vote "Thief of Fire" since the best vers of "We Are Time" is the live vers on the We Are Time comp (which might also be their record)

chr1sb3singer, Thursday, 9 July 2026 12:30 (five days ago)

"their BEST record", I shouldn't be arguing with my Italian office while I post

chr1sb3singer, Thursday, 9 July 2026 12:55 (five days ago)

ok there is only one answer here and it’s right at the top

mobb derp (voodoo chili), Thursday, 9 July 2026 13:03 (five days ago)

Key record for teen me. Had a mate whos surname was payne.

I also would prefer this poll to be about the initial release- without the sibgae single.

Loved the alien blood alternative versions thing.

bert newtown, Thursday, 9 July 2026 13:10 (five days ago)

no more bonus tracks in these polls, please

Serfin' USA (sleeve), Thursday, 9 July 2026 13:20 (five days ago)

you should all have to spend years looking for that single and then paying $18 in 90s money, like I had to do

Serfin' USA (sleeve), Thursday, 9 July 2026 13:22 (five days ago)

I've listened to this album 15 times in the last 30 years. I feel like the producer was a little heavy handed in steering the sound. I guess I still like it; I play it all the way through.

nicky lo-fi, Thursday, 9 July 2026 13:26 (five days ago)

Kinda considering snow girl

bert newtown, Thursday, 9 July 2026 13:31 (five days ago)

Tough call between Don’t Call Me Pain and Don’t Sell Your Dreams.

The producer was heavy handed on this? Compared to the How Much Longer album?

sarahell, Thursday, 9 July 2026 22:00 (five days ago)

“The producer”!

Karmic posing as I always do 🧘 (wins), Thursday, 9 July 2026 23:01 (five days ago)

I listen to this every 2-3 years and it makes more sense each time.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Thursday, 9 July 2026 23:11 (five days ago)

we are time

fpsa, Friday, 10 July 2026 01:12 (four days ago)

Had to vote "We Are Time" also

Elvis Telecom, Friday, 10 July 2026 19:36 (four days ago)

I think I'm starting to get this. Probably the weakest album from this batch. It sounds like a bunch of demos but like I'm saying coming around on the idea.

Bee OK, Saturday, 11 July 2026 04:03 (three days ago)

like mission of burma previously, find this very tough, no clear favourites for me

nxd, Saturday, 11 July 2026 04:08 (three days ago)

I couldn't find a full concert clip for this band around this time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrZksHRzYfs

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

This was an interesting one. Ended up voting for "We Are Time" too just over "She Is Beyond Good and Evil" and "The Boys From Brazil."
