It is. And then Philadelphia, Atlanta, L.A., only to end up in Northern California, which is an awfully roundabout way to get there.

Why was he moving around in that song, just looking for a job? To be fair it is true that US unemployment peaked at 9% in the spring of '75, perhaps the vantage point of the song - and that rate has only since been eclipsed by unemployment figures in 1982, 2009, and the Covid year of 2020.
