Australian folk musician/collagist. Think she has briefly been mentioned on Microphones or Mount Eerie threads. I'm aware of two albums - Soon & tiarn - hearing the former when it was re-released by Phil Elverum, who described "A breath taking internal world held in sound, crackling with life and free from intervention." Playing in a disused design/furniture shop in Oxford tomorrow (10/09/2026). Should be incredible.

Soon really grabbed me when I first encountered it, which I think was because of Elverum's newsletter. It reminded me of Grouper but with a warmer, outdoor presence...and like some of Grouper's work, the shape of the songs could seem hard to discern but was undeniably melodic. I got to see her at Union Pool in Brooklyn last year and she was *very* nervous but sweet and charming--for music that doesn't seem to translate to a live setting so obviously, she made it work well. I ordered Tiarn and she's going to be at Public Records next month...very much looking forward to seeing where she goes with her music from here.

tiarn reminds me a lot of grouper but more fragmentary and collage-y
it's very nice background music but i don't think anything really grabs me individually, it's a bit too out of focus for that, there's no "heavy water/i'd rather be sleeping" for instance

I know what you mean but I'm all right with the, I dunno, drift of it.
This is the track I'd put on a compilation for friends:

Not surprised I like this but am surprised how much. It's got depth but isn't too dense; There's plenty of space. Love how loud I can play it and all the subtle instrumentation along with the little taps and creaks come through.

the drift is fine, it's still good at what it's doing, there's just something missing that it'd need to for me to really love it

If I could take this moment to suggest that the teeny tiny little Aussie label putting out her stuff is fantastic. I think it's run by the Blue Divers guy, which are also a band for any Stretton lovers. https://brierfieldfloodpress.bandcamp.com/
