"Lose Yourself" sounds like a carbon-copy of "Fight Music"!

but, uh, better.

if he wants to demo his good ideas with D12 before putting them on a record people will actually listen to, fine by me.

bollocks to that, 'Fight Music' is much better than 'Lose Yourself' which i find a lot triter and just weaker...in fact i think Tom nailed it on NYLPM with regards to 'Lose Yourself' - the whole 'Warriors' motif on 'Fight Music' helps that track, and the guitar twangs are especially cool

Fight has a lousy chorus, though. Disorienting in a bad way.

gazuga (gazuga), Thursday, 12 December 2002 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I like "Lose Yourself"!! What did I say about it on NYLPM?

(never heard "Fight Music")

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 12 December 2002 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Who was it that called it Eminem's "Eye of the Tiger"? Now, THAT was funny!

Michael White, Thursday, 12 December 2002 08:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd almost given up on eminem til i heard "lose yourself". it's ace - rocky meets flash gordon.

michael wells (michael w.), Thursday, 12 December 2002 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Did anyone notice how D12's purple pills was a dry-run for Without Me as well?

M Carty (mj_c), Thursday, 12 December 2002 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

gasp!
You mean Eminem isn't really our new Dylan come down to die for our sins with limitless new ideas (or any ideas for that matter)?!?

Horace Mann, Thursday, 12 December 2002 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

"Lose Yourself" is the most important song of this winter. For me, anyway.

You need to get out more often, Robin.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 12 December 2002 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

on the contrary it has inspired me to get out more often, Alex.

robin carmody (robin carmody), Thursday, 12 December 2002 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

its rubbish! well i think so...it only exists for the purposes of the film, and i just dislike any song which is about 'doing anything you put your mind to, maaaaan'

and i dont think 'Fight Music' actually has a chorus, which is a plus

I think his time as leper messiah is about up anyway.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 December 2002 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I much prefer Triumph the Insult Comic Dog's version for his film 8 Nipples anyway. I believe it's called "Lick Yourself"

Horace Mann, Thursday, 12 December 2002 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

not to be confused with the band Triumph,
though it would be cool if the dog-puppet and Rik Emmett got together

Horace Mann, Thursday, 12 December 2002 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

and they could ride a 1960s British motorbike
