Anyhow if it's "He Was A Friend of Mine", then that's the one track on You Are Free that seems so close to self-parody it almost makes me adore (ie. want to fuck) Chan Marshall more for being to out of it to notice. It's no "Live to Tell" though!

Okay, sorry - I shoulda followed the link. Yeah, this is one of the songs on the new album I really like. She's moving away from her strengths and into more straightup songs, but it's working for her I think.

"good woman" is so natural and perfect i figured it must be a cover upon first listen. insta-classic.

"Free" is not so good unless played loud. "Speak for Me" "Shaking Paper" and "Babydoll" sound filleresque to me.

Overall not quite a Moon Pix, and I miss the Dirty 3ers, but the new violin is great.
