This album is really incredible. It's such a new sound, and the texture of it is very detailed. I discribed it to a friend as acoustic IDM because I couldn't think of any better way to explain what it sounds like. Please discuss the Books.

Very very good, yes. I really like "All Bad Ends All." Has some kinship with e.g. Fennesz and Keith Fullerton Whitman, who are also doing guitar-through-electronics in an interesting way, but the acoustic instrumentation is a neat idea.

The last second to last song and last song I don't think work to well for ending the album. I really wished they would have added another amazing longer song at the end.

(I think it'd be lovely if not for the word-collage: something about the frames of listening that the music and the cut-ups call for strikes me as incompatible. I'm still trying to figure out what this is, precisely.)

I know what you mean. It seems like to me that it is near perfect except for one incompatible aspect of it. But some of the samples work really well, like the kid laughing in "All Bad Ends All" and the "Peter you did do well" and people laughing on "All Our Base Are Belong to Them." The vocal melodies are good too, but some of the goofy out of place spoken parts I could do without.

I think it's terrific too. Though I was listening to it with a friend the other night and he remarked that it sounded "hobbitish." After which I felt uncomfortable.

I think its a very good record. It is a nice change of pace from most IDM. The instrumentation and samples I think work really well. At first it sounded a little strange, but I like the whimsy of the whole thing. And unlike a lot of IDM, which tends to get pretty repetitive, the album never really overstays its welcome.
