Anyone wishing to argue the case for One True Voice (sounds like a Food Records band from about 1996?), please do so...

I think the Cheeky Girls have added teh dreaded sleigh bells to their song.
OTV's song reminds me of something, I just can't quite pinpoint it.

"Pop band Girls Aloud have taken a small lead in the battle of bands created by ITV1's Popstars programme, unofficial sales figures show. The girl group's single Sound of the Underground is about 8,000 copies ahead of their rivals' single, Sacred Trust.
The two bands were chosen by viewers of the ITV show and released debut singles simultaneously.
Midweek sales figures suggest Girls Aloud have sold in excess of 30,000 copies.
HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo said : "First day sales around the country show Girls Aloud have delivered the first blow in the race for the Christmas number one."
The girl group are favourites to come out on top after bookmakers switched their predictions for the coveted Christmas chart prize.
Simon Dornan, spokesman for Virgin Megastores, said: "As predicted the girls have taken an early lead after first day sales and the difference in sales between the two singles is wider than expected.
"The girls have produced an original record which appeals to both boys and girls alike, and not just teenagers either."
The groups will spend the week campaigning for fans' allegiances with a string of public appearances and publicity stunts.
The boy band's song is expected to fall slightly short and take the number two spot.
The top three records in this Sunday's chart could all be products of the Popstars programme.
Transylvanian twins Monica and Gabriela were laughed off the programme when they auditioned for the girl group.
But a track written by their mother, Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) released under the name of the Cheeky Girls, is number three in the charts and expected to take the number three spot."

the Girls Aloud appears to be based on a combination of Puretone's 'Addicted To Bass' and Las Ketchup's 'Aserje' - but the end result isnt as good as either really - and i find the title predictably contemptible, but perhaps that was their intention

A civil servant is being prosecuted under the Obscene Publications Act for a blog in which he allegedly details the kidnap and murder of Girls Aloud.
The case of Darryn Walker, 35, is being seen as one of the most significant on censorship since Lady Chatterley's Lover.
It is expected to be the first test of the law since pornographic material became widely available on the internet.
Walker is accused of posting the article on a fantasy porn website.
It allegedly described in detail the kidnap, mutilation, rape and murder of Girls Aloud members Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh.
Headlined 'Girls (Scream) Aloud' it is said to have run to 12 pages.
The website has a foreign host but prosecution is possible because the alleged author was identifiable as a British citizen living in the UK.
The Internet Watch Foundation, which polices obscene material, was alerted to the article last year.
A case was then brought by Scotland Yard's Obscene Publications Unit after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service.
Most inquiries under obscenity laws have involved pornographic images in magazines or on DVDs.
In the coming weeks Walker, of South Shields, is due to appear at Newcastle crown court charged with publication of an obscene article.
He has already appeared before magistrates, where he was granted unconditional bail.
The 1959 Obscene Publications Act makes it illegal to publish material that tends to deprave and corrupt those reading or viewing it.

Sobering to be reminded that I started the first Girls Aloud thread on ILM. And now I'm the only one who doesn't like them. I'm not sure whether that is a sad or happy ending, nor for whom.

(sigh) yes, that's very true. If he'd stayed, "Beautiful Daughter" would have been a massive hit (even if it seems somewhat creepy thesedays), and we'd have been spared the Jeff Lynne years. And ELO, damnit.
