Pick but a single track from the grease-painted rock monkeys of yore.

As much as I'd love to cite "Christine Sixteen" and "Calling Dr.Love," I think I'll have to go with "Detroit Rock City." Yowza.

Yours?

Or maybe "Deuce."

"Ladies In Waiting",
mainly for the fade-out final bit where they repeat the title phrase for a few times... ('m serious)
which for me remains the only Kiss-able bit i care to remember at all (honestly)

Sure it's obvious, but "Rock and Roll All Nite" is the song I think of when I think of KISS.

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey = the crowning achievement of mankind => "God Gave Rock & Roll to You" = Kiss's crowning achievement

(to say the least)

Adam, you assuredly live in a great big world of WRONG.

No, I agree, "God Gave Rock N Roll To You" is by far Kiss's best.

KISS: "Great Expectations" off of Destroyer.
Solo: "I'm in Need of Love" Ace Freheley

Joe (Joe), Friday, 3 January 2003 01:26 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'd pick "Dirty Livin'", disguised as a copy of "C'mon & Love Me"

"cold gin" from KISS Alive! (opening rap and all)

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 3 January 2003 07:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

First of all, "God gave Rock & Roll to you" is a cover of an Argent tune (saw Rod & Colin perform it this summer actually - kick-ass!!).

I 2nd "Cold Gin". Great drinking song.

Or "Shock Me" from ALive II, with the immortal intro:

"We got a little surprise for you tonight. We're gonna hand the mic over to Ace Frehley!! Shock ME!!!"

...or Ace's "Rocket Ride" from the same lp (studio cut).

Ah hell, I just love Ace.

Oh, and every song from 'Destroyer'.

I go with Prince and the Revolution. Heh.

Parasite!

Don't forget "Lick it up," from the non-make up era.

David Allen, Saturday, 4 January 2003 00:55 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm pretty much of the opinion that virtually everything recorded after they shed the greasepaint (with the possible exception of the unintentioanlly hilarious "All Hell's Breakin' Loose") is utter, utter crap.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 4 January 2003 01:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

"lick it up" is fun, and "tears are falling" is a guilty pleasure.

after that, it's slim pickin's after they lost the scare-paint
