Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 4 January 2003 00:49 (twenty-three years ago)

How do u mean, Dan?

Michael Bourke, Saturday, 4 January 2003 01:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan can't handle the idea of more than one Kylie at a time!

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 4 January 2003 01:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh right! FWIW I like the vid.

Michael Bourke, Saturday, 4 January 2003 02:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I love this video, so much so that I gave the song more credit than was due. I downloaded the MP3 after seeing the video a couple times and found it fairly flat, so I deleted it.

Vinnie (vprabhu), Saturday, 4 January 2003 03:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan can't handle the idea of more than one Kylie at a time!

I'm totally okay with it, though..

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 4 January 2003 03:35 (twenty-three years ago)

I loved the song beforehand, but the video makes it TRANSCENDENT.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 4 January 2003 05:02 (twenty-three years ago)

So boring.

OCP (OCP), Saturday, 4 January 2003 05:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Does anyone actually know how they did this video?

stephen. s (yaye), Saturday, 4 January 2003 16:21 (twenty-three years ago)

The same way they did Jamiroquai "The Return Of The Space Cowboy"?

Siegbran (eofor), Saturday, 4 January 2003 16:23 (twenty-three years ago)

What do you mean video? It's her world.

_gibby_, Saturday, 4 January 2003 16:46 (twenty-three years ago)

the video was directed by Michel Gondry and features one of his particular trademarks - the theme of growth through repetition of seemingly mundane process...elements of that are evident in his 'Let Forever Be' and 'Star Guitar' clips for the Chemical Brothers and also Bjork's 'Army Of Me' and 'Bachelorette' promos. Gondry is obssessed with building worlds within worlds and allowing those worlds to develop artifically and organically, thus taking a life of their own independent of the actions of a creator i.e. Gondry or the subject in the video - in this case Kylie.

as for how he did it - difficult to specualte exactly in this case but his dedication to intricacy and agonising attention to detail suggests that Gondry actually filmed at least four separate versions of the same video and then amalgamated them together via clever editing techniques (rather like 'Star Guitar' in fact) - one thing's for sure - the guy is a genius and utterly unique - still cant wait to see his upcoming film 'Human Nature' when it eventually comes out

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 4 January 2003 17:01 (twenty-three years ago)

It's not really a great video I don't think, thought the Star Guitar one was alot better. (but then the song isn't great either unlike Star Guitar which I quite liked)

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 4 January 2003 17:05 (twenty-three years ago)

"world", there's an interesting euphimism

dave q, Saturday, 4 January 2003 17:41 (twenty-three years ago)

admittedly, the video's premise is much simpler and less impressive than other Gondry vids, and indeed other Kylie vids - its strength is the execution of the premise, so a technical triumph if not anything else...but then nine videos out of ten these days seem to pull off some kind of oh-so-clever special effects gimmick i guess - but i'm just a total Gondry obssessive myself so lap up anything he touches...as i say, HE's a genius even if the video is not a work of genius itself

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 4 January 2003 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Just watchiing the video, it looks like he filmed her walking in a circle executing all of the moves and so on and put the whole thing together in post-production. SO COOL.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 4 January 2003 21:17 (twenty-three years ago)

its a nice video but terrible song. to watch with the sound turned down, of course.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 4 January 2003 21:21 (twenty-three years ago)

the song's okay, no worse than 'cant get you out of my head' if you ask me, but then i thought that was terribly over-rated...'In Your Eyes' is better than both

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 4 January 2003 21:42 (twenty-three years ago)

kylie minogue is shittiest shit i have ever heard of. Even her songs are fucking shit!!!!!!!!!!!

gazman, Saturday, 4 January 2003 23:28 (twenty-three years ago)

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 4 January 2003 23:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 4 January 2003 23:48 (twenty-three years ago)

She seems like a nice bunch.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 6 January 2003 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

If she stood on her own shoulders, she'd be eight feet tall!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 6 January 2003 14:40 (twenty-three years ago)

this is the best thing evah!
(16yroldme: after how many loops would kylie start telefragging?)

Ess Kay (esskay), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 03:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Saw Human Nature last nite Stevem - fantastically skew-whiff and logical at the same time - but the direction from Gondry was fairly straight. I s'pose the script was so wrapped in its own internal world that there was no need for him to embellish with his usual stylistic tricks.

Anyway, very funny, very clever, lab mice being taught which fork to use for lettuce, Patricia Arquette's catweazle breasts.

Kylie video makes me breathlessly dizzy, in a nitrous oxide kinda way.
Great song too, plus that Fischerspooner remix? Best thing they've done dontcha think?

nebbesh (nebbesh), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 04:35 (twenty-three years ago)

For once I care about MTV. Then this thought dies.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 06:33 (twenty-three years ago)

She seems like a nice bunch.

hehe, quote of the thread
