I don't like his Will You Love Me Tomorrow. Those two are all I've heard by him. His name is great for arbitrarily dropping into sentences tho.

I have the duet LP he did with Dinah Washington but can't remember any of his songs. My dad probably had half a dozen of his records in the house when I was growing up.

I don't think it is that at all. He touched on soul, but his instincts generally went towards the kind of Charles Brown or Nat King Cole easy listening end of things. Most of his work is weak, it's not just that the albums are (I have a couple of them).

he aint ray charles but awful is pushing it. Even his most milquetoast stuff has a quality if only on the beauty of his voice alone.

And i wish more people knew more about nat cole's jazz piano proficency than his ballads
