stevem (blueski), Monday, 6 January 2003 02:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Just a couple of things on Ebay: Josh Clayton Felt - Spirit Touches Ground, and John Wesley Harding, Collected Stories 1990-91.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 6 January 2003 02:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I did not buy it, but a friend gave me the new Buzzcocks internet-only live album as a belated Christmas gift this evening, featuring live versions of later-era tracks like "Totally From the Heart". Huzzah.

Weird - my first purchase of the year was Buzzcocks - Entertaining Friends. Best seven bucks I've spent in a while!

Mil, Monday, 6 January 2003 05:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I bought Nothing Less Than Brilliant - The Best Of Sandie Shaw on CD for a measly aus$8...I win! It's got "Hand In Glove" and "I Don't Owe You Anything" and everything! And a song called "Heaven Knows I'm Missing Him Now", at which point it all fell into place quite neatly. Oh happy day...

Charlie (Charlie), Monday, 6 January 2003 05:46 (twenty-three years ago)

The Best of Nina Simone
Neotropic - Mr. Brubaker's Strawberry something or other
Tresor comp "Demo Tracks #1"

I'm still lining up Bardo Pond's "Amanita" -- is that out of print?

Leee (Leee), Monday, 6 January 2003 06:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Ramones - Loud Fast Ramones

Damian (Damian), Monday, 6 January 2003 08:59 (twenty-three years ago)

gareth (gareth), Monday, 6 January 2003 09:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Nothing very interesting, I'm afraid. Neu 2 and a dirt cheap copy of Loves Ugly Children's "Cold Water Surf" for a friend.

OCP (OCP), Monday, 6 January 2003 09:56 (twenty-three years ago)

stevo (stevo), Monday, 6 January 2003 10:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i got 10 second hand CDs in one swoop for just €99 on Saturday afternoon. First purchases of '03. I'll list 'em on the other thread.

michael wells (michael w.), Monday, 6 January 2003 10:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Ultravox - The Island Years.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I got Total 4 through the post but I'd bought that well before New Years. It landed straight in my Top 10, too - yum yum. (Also notice the handy and deserved appearance of Autobianchi in my top 101 tracks of '02 when I couldnt find one of the other ones on the list).

Not actually bought anything in '03 yet though. The first song I paid money to hear (on a jukebox) was Carter USM ha ha ha.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Triple R - Friends
Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crime
Michael Mayer - Immer
Nina Simone - Blue For You

Unsurprisingly, the first three are great. So great in fact that I haven't got round to listening to the fourth yet.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:35 (twenty-three years ago)

stevo, you should not have been able to order that CD!....the mini-site for it has now been removed actually so maybe you're the last one for the moment - erm, you could be in for a long wait for it basically, be warned

stevem (blueski), Monday, 6 January 2003 11:46 (twenty-three years ago)

the new Loud Family live CD!

When the Sun Goes Down: The Secret History of Rock & Roll

Horace Mann, Monday, 6 January 2003 18:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Hot Hot Shit - Make Up The Breakdown. Piss poor album.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 6 January 2003 18:10 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think I've bought anything yet this year, but a friend gave me the Forcefield CD plus I got some free techno records (plus Nitzer Ebb's Belief - Holy-I-liked-this-in-middle-school, Batman!) at a friend's gig the other night. Some dude outside of Luxx approached him with a stack of vinyl he needed to sell ASAP for some cash. My friend gave him $2. I should note that all the records have a mysterious white powder all over them (I don't think it's anthrax, yo).

hstencil, Monday, 6 January 2003 18:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Niza - Canciones de Temporada
Juniper Moon - El Resto De Mi Vida
The Please - One Piece From the Middle (this is the only one I don't much like, they sound just like the Strokes)
63 Crayons - S/T
The Sinking Ships - Out of Key Harmony

jel -- (jel), Monday, 6 January 2003 18:25 (twenty-three years ago)

The Please

Please indeed.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 6 January 2003 18:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Just a bunch of discs from a used store that I've been meaning to finally pick up real copies of:

Oasis - Heathen Chemistry
Muse - Showbiz
Beck - Mutations
Cornershop - When I Was Born for the Seventh Time

Bill Aicher, Monday, 6 January 2003 18:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Nevermind my last post... that was on December 31st. Nothing yet this year.

bill aicher, Monday, 6 January 2003 18:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that a new The Shazam album?

dwh (dwh), Monday, 6 January 2003 18:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Talk Talk - LAUGHING STOCK. I've been in a mad rush to buy everything this band ever recorded (ever since I heard the Godpiece that was SPIRIT OF EDEN. PLEASE BUY THAT ALBUM IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO ALREADY!!!), but so far the only song that's really clicked with me is the beautiful jazzy "New Grass."

Evan (Evan), Monday, 6 January 2003 19:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Kid Koala - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I had loved this album when it came out but never bothered to get my own copy. Partly because it also reminds me of an xgf. Still, "Music For Morning People" is one of my favorite 3:47 in wonderfulness. Next on the agenda is a good copy of Scratch Happy Land, where Yoda and Charlie Brown hang out.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 6 January 2003 19:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Noodles:
Right you are about The Kid - my favorite is 'Like Irregular Chickens' - how do ya like that one?

Oh, and my first buy this year is a copy of Mo'Wax's 'Now Thing', a fine collection of dancehall instrumentals. And, yup: NWA's 'Straight Outta Compton', which I could never find when I really wanted to hear it. Now it's mine!!!

Jay K (Jay K), Monday, 6 January 2003 21:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that a new The Shazam album?

Yep, new Shazam. Haven't listened yet but hopefully it sounds more like the previous 2 full-lengths and less like the most recent ep.

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Monday, 6 January 2003 22:31 (twenty-three years ago)

The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld. I got it today, it's cool.

dave q, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 11:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I haven't bought any CDs yet, but I bought some vinyl the other day: the new Blufoot / Infinite Livez / Scanky the Ashanti single, the LG& Lopez / Jehst "Rocket Fuel" record and the new Usmaan record on YNR. Oh and a couple of really really beaten up old reggae 7"s for pennies (Big Youth / hudon; Niney / Bionic Dread).

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 11:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I haven't bought anything yet, although I'm toying with the idea of overcoming months of reticence and checking out that Xinlisupreme album this lunchtime.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 11:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Today: certainly my oddest purchase yet. 40 CD singles for 4 euro. Lots of French house: Phoenix, Benjamin Diamond, Braxe & Falke, Bel Amour, Dax Riders...as well as Ugly Duckling, Eboman, The Horrorist, Tahiti 80, X-Press-2, Reloop, Bastian...all 10 cents apiece!

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 16:12 (twenty-three years ago)

O. Messiaen - Saint François d'Assise

dleone (dleone), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Re: Kid Koala - He has a new album coming out in March in the States.

T. Weiss (Timmy), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 23:30 (twenty-three years ago)

so far the only song that's really clicked with me is the beautiful jazzy "New Grass."

Hm. Give it time. ;-)

Not sure what it would have been. Something at Second Spin.
