both?

I can't really say if he's a jerk, he doesn't return my calls...

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Since when were the two mutually exclusive?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:30 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah your right. how about both.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:32 (twenty-three years ago)

embarrasingly enough,i only realised he was black the other day, when i was looking through a book about love...what i've heard of his music has been exceptional, but i've no idea whether he's a nice guy or not...does it matter?

robin (robin), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:37 (twenty-three years ago)

no it doesn't matter.......

I guess the studio outtakes on the new release of "Forever Changes" are funny, probably a foray directly into this query

yes steve, correct.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 18:25 (twenty-three years ago)

didn't mean to sound dismisive, just seems like an odd question...

robin (robin), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 18:50 (twenty-three years ago)

i do the believe that the two are bound together forever and not seperable. you can be a jerk without being a genius but many times you cant be a genius without being a jerk.

jack cole (jackcole), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 19:07 (twenty-three years ago)

R. Buckminster Fuller was a non-jerk genius.

i am on a mission to meet arthur...i don't know why i haven't run into him yet.....wasn't a fan until about three years ago....maybe he's a jerk for calling two cds a box set...or maybe rhino is a jerk.....maybe he's a jerk for letting johnny mc lean and d.c.snoopy and brian echo or what's their names fuck off and die...maybe they were jerks.......anyways....he found a bunch of kids whos' careers were going nowhere and he even let them drink and say some not so nice things about jesus when he made his comeback....that's pretty nice of him.of course his best career move was when he did a "" louie-louie- strong-armed-confetti""......(when a black musician goes to prison for shooting off a gun on new years)cops are jerks.the law is a jerk.arthur is probably more of a jerk now, than he was before.i certainly would be.and then he got lumped into the whole free mumia thing, just because he's black.is mumia guilty?is mumia a jerk?who knows?he may be a genius,i've never heard his stuff.how is it? but whoever confused the two of them is a jerk.one of them has dreadlocks.the other has a wave......BIG difference.but then,i'm a jerk, just for bringing up the issue of racially biased hairstyles, when that has nothing to do with the question..jerk/or not a jerk......................or,genius.............or,both......................................kevin fitzgerald of the geraldine fibbers is an incredibly nice guy.and he's a genius.but he joined the circle jerks.so,technically...kevin is a jerk(in training).....i don't know if buckminster fuller was a jerk.... but i met his buddy john cage.... he taught me how to be a jerk in such a sly devious way that no one will ever know that you are a jerk.....i don't know if john cage was a jerk.i thought he was a really nice guy.there was a jerk at the show.a reEEal jerk.he stole one of john's mannuscripts.john probably thought i did it because i was wearing a top hat and i wouldn't tell him who did it even though i said i think i thought i knew who did......after all.... a thief is a jerk, true.but a snitch is an ever bigger jerk.

I just think he was an inovative man when it comes to music. I'll say genius when he beats a super computer at chess.

mallory bourgeois (painter man), Thursday, 9 January 2003 06:07 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, i always feel like i'm on rocky territory when i start using the word 'genius' with musicians. i feel like i'm obliged to give reasons other than the overall excellence of the music. let's just call arthur lee a great songwriter and musician. any of you seen the interview jack white from the white stripes did with lee in this week's nme? heh heh! let's just say prison hasn't exactly humbled him. staggering arrogance and self-importance. 'forever changes' somewhat validates it, but still...
