I say they're great, and I just know that everyone on the messageboard will agree with me here. I can't imagine a single person having anything bad to say about Green Day.

PS: Lead singer of Green Day recently arrested on DUI. That probably doesn't mean a thing to any of you, so forget I said anything.

There are few situations in life where this added to the end of whatever you're doing doesn't make it better. Except perhaps if you have been already drinking vodka because then it's just redundant.

Green Day are a rare example of a punk band in the '90s that "sold out" (stupid phrase) without ruining everything in the process. I was a hater, for a while, in a phase where I was trying to suss out exactly where I stood on the whole stormy punk ethics question. But I finally came to my senses: Green Day are grate. They've always seemed to have made the album *they* want to make, regardless of major/indie affiliation. And they still seem to be having fun playing shows.
'Dookie' and 'Insomniac' = classic fun, angsty, jump-around punk albums. Green Day live = still classic. If someone can seriously explain to me why The Ramones are so forever cool but Green Day suck, I'd be interested to hear.

Drink driving, though = rubbish. Oh well.

Yeah, I'd always rather listen to Green Day than the Ramones as well. Death threats to the usual address.

It's the only example I can think of of a band that "matured" without going shit or seeming dumb. I mean, the Day of today are all... mid-30s? They have kids and stuff. They can't still be writing songs about spending the whole day jerking off and smoking weed. "Warning" is their finest work since "Dookie" as well, in some cases it's even better (stuff like "Church On Sunday" and "Fashion Victim" wouldn't even have been dreamed of by a young period Day).

The Offspring, on the other hand, were shit even when they were good.

Perfectlty fine little, wholly derivative "punk" band, responsible for some great, hook-laden singles, but the way they suddenly morphed into mega-hugedom still confounds me.

I used to hate them, but then each successive post-Dookie single (especially "Walking Contradiction") wore down my resistance to such an extent I think I'd like Dookie a lot if I gave it another chance. I think my resistance snapped around the time I saw the video for "Redundant". That, and the song "Scattered" which is one of the best power-pop songs ever.

I think Green Day FANS are the reason I often lean towards not liking them, but that's only `cos I'm a crotchedy old man who insists on bringing up The Dickies when blue-haired teens with wallet-chains start blathering on about how Green Day are "punk."

Oh jesus I hate these guys and pretty much everything about them. One of them changed his name to Tres Cool, what an arse, I hope when he's 50 and a nobody people abuse him for this cos he deserves it. As for the music, the singers voice is incredibly annoying and I hate everything they stand for, all around good guys just goofing around. I think the line "or shut up and be a victim of society" sealed the deal for me, what a bunch of fools, dressing up like an idiot and forming a crap punk band makes you a bigger "victim of society" than anything else I can think of.

The guy whose car I rode to high school in listened to Dookie, left it in his tape deck, and every day by the time he picked me up, it was back to the same rotation of the first four songs on the album. I heard those four songs every morning for 4 MONTHS!

I've never really enjoyed much of their proper music, but their hidden tracks have been excellent.

Basically Dookie is fantastic, and everything else isn't as good. I only heard Warning once, but I think that's probably my second favorite album after Dookie. The singles have always been pretty good though.

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong was arrested early Sunday in Berkeley, California, for driving under the influence.

The punk-rocker was pulled over just before 1 a.m. after authorities spotted his black BMW convertible speeding, according to Berkeley Police spokesperson Mary Kusmiss.

After Armstrong failed sobriety and Breathalyzer tests, he was taken to jail and booked for misdemeanor drunk driving. He was released later that morning on $1,200 bail and will be arraigned later this month.

Kusmiss said the 30-year-old singer was "very cooperative" and did not inform authorities of his celebrity.

Green Day's latest album, the rarities collection Shenanigans, was released in July (see "Green Day Call Shenanigans With Rarities List"), and the band recently contributed to Iggy Pop's upcoming LP. Green Day are working on a new album in their native Bay Area.

And outside of music, Armstrong recently played a high-rolling gambler on an episode of UPN's "Haunted."

A spokesperson for Armstrong did not return calls for comment.

Once Green Day realised the Blink were better at being Green Day than they were, they tried to be mature; unfortunately for them they didn't have the chops to become a mega-power ballad rawk monstrosity a la Bon Jovi so they just wrote better songs. I thought it worked but nobody bought their record, not even me.
