Lou Reed vs. I. Kutchanutzov

When it comes to songs about sexual ambiguity Lou Reed was the first and the best! "Candy Says", need I say more? However, Lou also seems to have a fixation with castration/genital mutilation - "Blue Mask", "Harry's Circumcision", maybe "Lady Godiva's Operation", not to mention creepy/sinister references to body parts being mangled, abused or transformed ("Andy's Chest", "Wagon Wheel"). Are these things all related? And has anyone else written songs about castration/genital mutilation?

wasn't there a momus song on stars forever? Of coursse you have some of eminem's stuff, but that's more about cutting someone else up, NIN's Hurt - eg hurt myself today to see if i still felt - umm, and you never know if the Counting crows really are sining "Cut up Maria" in Mr Jones.

In Tarden's continuing quest for "ooh look at me, I'm so naughty" threads, how long do you think before he'll start a thread about scatalogical influences in music?

Does anyone else think that George Baker Selection's "Little Green Bag" is about a colostomy?

Look. Lou Reed wrote LOTS of songs, and MOST were about sex and squeamishness w/r/t said act. Sometimes he went overboard to shock, as with Blue Mask, which seems sort of silly now. Although the guitar work is still great. And yes, Lou's songs about transformation were about sexual ambiguity, as the two you list were from his "transsexual glam" album, and "Candy Says" was about Candy, who was in fact a well know transsexual around the warhol crowd. Ok. Now where's the question?

Question = bunch of words with a question mark at the end of them. Sort of like looking for Waldo.
