Both sung by slightly silly men with penchants for pancake make-up and tonsorial tomfoolery. One is a gleefull blast of giddy affection, the other a melancholly ode. One is joyous, the other maudlin. One rocks, the other lilts.

Which do you prefer.....and which better sums up the true meaning of....wait for it...."love"?

I haven't heard the Damned song, but even if I had I'd go with The Cure. That bass line! The guitar! The obsession! Melancholy as uplifting sentiment! GENIUS!

It has to be The Damned!

Not just because it's a great song but because they were my favourite band at the time and that was the first thing they released after having split up and reformed again with a slightly different line-up very shortly afterwards for the very first time (yes, it's hard to believe now, but at the time I actually thought they were gone for good!) and of course it signalled clearly that not only were they back but they were as good as ever!

Also Disintegration is one of my least favourite Cure albums.
