all new! stuff to download

ok, here's a thing. i've finally got myself online at home, with a filesharing prog (imesh - my pc hates slsk for some REALLY ANNOYING REASON), at a paltry 56k - welcome to Australia, have a nice day - and I'm feeling horribly left out about a large amount of the NEW stuff discussed on ILM.

I want to burn a CD (just bought a burner today) of lots of amazing new pop/glitch/indie/hip-hop/whateverr stuff - amazingly for 2002, my PC doesn't have sound (don't ask) - so I have to download something *and* burn it in order to hear it.

Just to give you some context, I've already downloaded Tatu's first one and that Big Brovaz tune, just out of interest, but each one takes at least 20 MINUTES to download, so please filter judiciously!

What am I missing from the US/UK/anywhwere else? Christ, I've not even heard Work It yet so I guess that's a start...

Tips? Anything? Check out my blog for vague pointers as to what I'm after - get me up-to-date, kids!

er...scroll down from the Norman Jay piece for the real action - he's not really my cop of tea, at least not in lame funky house terms...

and yes, I already have the interpol album.

also, any ideas why slsk doesn't like my PC? I have windows 95, is that a problem? I downloaded the .exe but it said "a required .dll file, ws2_32.dll, was not found" - help!

I'm very interested in RJD2...

shit, just realised my title is a little misleading (ie. it looks like I'm doing the recommending, whereas I'm actually patiently waiting on tips): can someone who can, change it to something that might actually attract people to the thredd? Like "all new! recommend judicious good/fun stuff to download now please!" or similar. ta...

RJD2's top tracks are 'The Horror', 'Smoke & Mirrors', 'The Proxy', 'June' and '2 More Dead' for me

and if you like him you just can't ignore the Shadow - 'The Private Press' is not as much of a disappointment as most people claim, in reality.

charlie you probably should update your Windows OS if you can...XP ideally, assuming your archaic-sounding PC can handle it (no offence ;)

other top new/recent tracks:
Audio Bullys 'We Don't Care' and 'Snow'
Junior Senior 'Move Your Feet' (re-released this month)
Dizzy rascal 'I Love You'
Basement Jaxx 'Junction EP esp. Acid Luv and We R Computa'
Simian 'LA Breeze'
Punjabi MC 'Mundian Te Bach Ke'
Electric 6 'Danger! High Voltage!'
Together 'So Much Love To Give'
Liam Lynch 'United States Of Whatever'

check out http://gabba.net for some of the latest coolest tracks...

Hey, thanks you guys, will get right on it.

Yeah, i need a new PC, frankly, but cash will not permit - we literally found this one on the street in Sydney! I'd love XP of course, but...well, that costs money, right? Goddamn money, I hate it.

I've given up on slsk for the time being - imesh seems to br bringing up most of what i'm after.

Yep, got The Private Press and love it loads - no idea why everyone slagged it, really...it's almost a pop record! And that suits me juuust fine.

ps. search Arling & Cameron - aussie electro inexplicably released on Emperor Norton but v cool.

Another vote for Junior Senior's 'Move Your Feet'.

And just what is the story behind the video for it? Who made it, for a start? It's GRATE, like some VIC20 game, or something.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Sunday, 12 January 2003 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Re: the video for the Jnr and Snr song, I'm pretty sure it was done by Shynola who made Quannum's I Changed My Mind, also.

"Pretty sure." Blah.

Bro, I'm pretty sure they're Dutch...

it would appear I've been misinformed. You're absolutely right, they're Dutch. Doesn't make them any less good tho, and I just found out they've written for Pizzicato Five and Fantastic Plastic Machine, which ups the ante still further!

If it's electro in a house stylee you want try downloading "Take Me With You" by Cosmos, it was my favourite record last year and I still love it as much as I did the first time I heard it. Very special.
