This one's terrific. Much better than "Downtown" and "Sign of the Times". What do you think?

More of a hip-shaker than "Downtown", though expressing similar sentiments. That key-change in the last verse ALWAYS gets me. I'm a big fan of "Don't Sleep In The Subway" as well though.

The piano at the beginning always reminds me of the Sesame Street theme song. It uses the unfortunate "chairs/there" rhyme, which makes it a sister to "I Am I Said" (though slightly less ridiculous). It's a fine song, but I'm afraid "Downtown" wins.

I love all of Pet Clark's Tony Hatch stuff, although this one takes the biscuit. By the way, did you hear Julian Cope's 'version'? He stuck the chorus in the middle of 5 O'Clock World.

You get the impression 'Don't Sleep in the Subway' is about real issues that come up in real relationships involving real people. There are not many 'lurve' songs from that time (1967) or before which you can say that about. Under-rated, ahead of its time CLASSIC.

Her version of 'This Is My Song' is also excellent, and 'The Wedding Song' has somehow survived being sung/hammed/murdered (by singers with very various levels of talent) at just about half the weddings I've been to over the last 25 years.
