the first band i thought of when i read 'f vox art punk' was the yeah yeah yeahs but it seems like you're consciously avoiding them - well i probably would too because 'bang' sux, but if you have spare space give 'art star' a go - james de la cruz played it between de la soul and public enemy and made me like it.

Anne Dudley - Art Of NoiseShe began her career as a session keyboard player for Trevor Horn before forming AoN. They produced experimental new wave hits like "Close to the Edit," "Peter Gunn" and the Tom Jones collaboration of the Prince song "Kiss." Astrid Plane & Cynthia Rhodes - AnimotionSynth pop band from the mid 80s, they had a major hit with their song "Obsession." Astrid Plane was the female lead of Animotion for their first Top 10 single "Obsession." After Astrid left the band, Cynthia Rhodes joined the group. Moon Unit ZappaHer song in the early 80s recorded with the help of her genius composer pop Frank Zappa, the novelty song "Valley Girl" was a surprise hit and a commentary mocking the girls who came from the San Bernardino Valley near Los Angeles and their ridiculous speech patterns.
