TS: Robert Quine -vs- Brigid Polk

Listening to the Quine tapes this weekend ... and although Max's Kansas city features Billy Yule instead of Mo Tucker, I prefer the Max's recording much more than the Quine recording...drums being a non-issue on both.

..although that might be nostalgia talking because I haven't heard Max's Kansas City in 10 years.. I just remember that "Femme Fatale" never sounded so good - and the Jim Carroll comments make it a good comedy record as well...

.. How many more listens to the Quine tapes do I need to do before I like it more?

Maybe it's a case of the quality of both being so bad, that less is more...

six months pass...
I feel that the performance outshines the mediocre sound. By the way, Robert over Brigid any day. She was cool & all, but Quine has done some monster guitar work with the Voidoids, Lou Reed, and Matthew Sweet. Not that making cool films & eating key lime pies aren't wonderful things to do, but the guitar always wins.

Quine by yards. The man is one the central reasons iam a music snob.
