Evening everyone,

Who's heard The Rogers Sisters then? Far from the 50's easy-listening group their name suggests they play some fancy Yeah Yeah Yeahs meets Talking Heads with lots of "wooooooo's" in the songs.

http://www.troublemanunlimited.com/pages/mp3.html - Get some MP3's here, I like 'The Black Anniversey' bestest bestest bestest.

Methinks the NME would whore them to death give the chance.

I heard a lot about this group and finally got the cd, and found it just okay. They sound like they'd be better live. Could be i'm biased by worst cover art i've seen all millennium.

They were good the one time I saw them live, so-so the other two. Of course Troubleman doesn't believe in getting his releases mastered before manufacturing so it shouldn't be surprise as to why the record sounds so poor.

mosurock (mosurock), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah Troubleman records usually do sound terrible...what's up with that? That dude owes a new copy of that Mixtape thing he did, it was almost great except it sounded like shit! After putting it out he decides to re-master the thing, bush league dood!

I listened to the CD and decided against it. The first track is great. The rest are kind of so-so. Can someone sound TOO much like Talking Heads??

Actually they're a bit B-52s as well.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

It's my understanding their new sound is based on lots of listening to lots of Tubeway Army era Gary Numan. I found the album a little samey at first, and not my thing, but it grows on ya. & also, better live.

Rogers Sisters rule. And they own the best bar in Brooklyn (Daddy's).

I'd just love to hear what bullshit reason they have for doing this..

I really hope he doesn't cut any corners with that Death Comet Crew discography.

Haven't heard the music yet, but if the band gets Laura and Jen more notoriety/wealth/etc., then I'm all for it. They're totally swell.

hstencil, Wednesday, 15 January 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Laura is indeed quite swell and Jen is a little bizarre personally but Miyuki is maybe my favorite singer/sweater/butt-shaker on the NY scene period. One of my favorite rock moments ever was them at the C-Note. They played "A Certain Girl" and got everybody so happy that the bar staff started giving free drinks to anyone even near the bar (i.e. me + friends)!! Now that's a band I can get behind!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Go Miyuki!

eight months pass...
Still thinking about buying this...

adaml (adaml), Monday, 29 September 2003 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw them live and they weren't very good. The bassist had groove, but the songs weren't particularly inerresting or catchy.

Ian Johnson (orion), Monday, 29 September 2003 22:26 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
They opened for Mclusky Oct. 22 in Hoboken, NJ and totally kicked ass.

Shaun (shaun), Sunday, 24 October 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

They were quite good at the Knitting Factory on the 19th too.

Maciej Kasperowicz (Maciej), Sunday, 24 October 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

they're fun.
