ILM Admin Survey

Over to you.

Tom, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Well I eventually got back to ILM via loads of junk ads and "The Website has moved" verbiage. The survey dialog seems to give no indication of whether your selections have been entered after selecting the appropriate radio buttons.

Dr. C, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

The back-to-ILM thing should be sorted now, sorry about that.

Everything else - blame pollit.com

Cheers, Tom

Two questions:

1) Out with it: who is the one person who fancies an ILM regular? Who do you fancy? I WANT GOSSIP GODDAMNIT. Gossip that's not about me for once. PLEASE?

2) Why is there no question: "Is there not ENOUGH flaming on ILM?" We definitely need more flaming. Especially directed towards the state of New Jersey.

Ally, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

oh, you just want to hear them say, "I FANCY YOU!" as if you don't have enough trouble with that as it is. (for the record, it wasn't me. looking at the results now, there are TWO people who fancy an ilm regular.)

fred solinger, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

my sister is moving to new jersey in the summer (um, either iselin or woodridge i think). is it really as bad as everyone says? i guess i'll find out when i go over in september. (hey maybe there should be a ilm meet round then, and i could be the first to do both sides of the atlantic ILM meets, heh heh heh...)

gareth, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I'm more interested* in the 2 people who dont consider themselves regular posters despite answering the survey in the first five minutes it was up!

*OK, no, I am quite interested in who reads ILM cause they fancy a regular.

Tom, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

New Jersey is WORSE than people say.

I so do not want to hear anyone say, "I fancy you!" Like I haven't heard that shit enough lately. NO ONE FANCY ME. I AM DISGUSTING. I WEIGH 15LBS TOO MUCH AND I HAVE A ZIT ON MY CHIN. PLUS, A GAP BETWEEN MY FRONT TWO TEETH! AND GLASSES!

There, will that do? I really do want to know who people fancy though. I was thinking of starting a thread the other day, "What pop star do you fancy?" I think I might just still start it, have we done that yet?

Ally, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I quite fancy myself, but I haven't filled the survey in yet.

DG, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

just call me nick today: http://www.ilxor.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=0054Rv

and new jersey is GRATE, to quote hibbett. last night, i realized how much i loved it. sure, i'd go mad if i didn't work in the city, but i enjoy living there.

fred solinger, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Living in NJ is for people too weak to make it in the city. Same for Long Islanders. Wussbags.

Though I suspect your love of living where you are is more a love of freeloading at this point in time... ;P

Ally, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

BZZZZZT. Ally and Fred - to the chatter thread!

MODERATOR, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I think this thread is pretty much proving the point that a new forum might be a good idea. Besides, Ally and I can threaten each other with cyborg pop stars/mammals and people won't get annoyed about the lack of musical content.

DG, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Oh, bollocks to it. This place was eating too much of my time anyway. I reckon something like 30 of the last 40 messages were wank (here's another one). Time for a holiday.

Tom, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I'm just surprised someone in marketing didn't have a more drawn-out survey: what is your median household income, etc... ;-)

Nicole, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Was it something I said?

DG, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Prediction: you'll get a new forum, you'll play with it for a week, then you'll have to like clean out its cage and stuff, and you'll get bored and it will die. And you'll be back.

You need the naughtiness of bugging up the musickos to juice the otherwise not-muchness of just, y'know, chat.

Hey, how generous am I? Even tho this whole jazz-solo episode has diverted the entire attention-energy of a planet or three away from my million-word Bollocks Masterpiece, I'm still suggesting it's a half-baked idea.

mark s, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Forgive ill-tempered gruffness above. Signal:noise ratio worries at ILM not as big a factor as external (work, site relaunch) stuff. It's just a catalyst and I *do* need a break - please pelt me with virtual rocks (via e-mail) if you catch me posting over the next week or so.

Tom, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Fwiw, I read (and loved) your bollocks piece.

Nicole, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

It should be typed up properly and put on the re-launched FT. If all parties concerned agree, that is.

DG, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I must have missed something. What is the bollocks piece?

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I believe they refer to the Sex Pistols thread, Ned.

Josh, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Clarity is mine.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

*having reread it*

...hm. First time through I found it hard to follow, and I still do. Not to offend, Mark, but I'm very vague on what your point was.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I'm more offended by DG's accusation: what's wrong with my typing!!

Point: er — no, don't get me started again. The mark s definition of precis = much longer with more details and twisty divergence and the waving of the arms.

mark s, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

No no no, I meant tart it up a bit, perhaps with a nice flowery border or something.

DG, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Oh, WE can do THAT at FT. Heh heh heh.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Effective immediately I am performing my civic duty by removing M. Raggett from his post as FT editor.

Josh, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

yeah, but what r we gonna do about Ned?

Geoff, Thursday, 7 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I'm suprised more people didn't click 'egotisim'. I mean, _I_ did...

JM, Friday, 8 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I wish it had more "maybe" answers. Some things can't be clarified with a simple "yes" or "no".

Good god, *9* people fancy the regulars? Is it one of YOU lot who keeps sending me those stupid online crush cards? ;-)

masonic boom, Friday, 8 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I was about to say. M. Raggett is my dad, Mike by name, and he knows nothing of this 'Freaky Trigger' of which you speak.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 8 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I picked egotism, Jimmy.

Kate: Those crush cards, are they by any chance links to MP3.com? I've noticed a few websites all of a sudden have a new junkmail scam, in which they send you anonymous ecards and "crush" announcements to get you to click on their link. It's low as fuck - MP3.com has done this to me 3 times, with "an anonymous admirer!" or "your secret admirer!" as the sender. It's really lame.

I mean, I get those real crush things too, but you always have to fill out everyone you know then they think you're in love with them, etc etc etc. It's almost as bad as the MP3.com new mail tactic!

Ally, Friday, 8 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

No, I definitely picked egoism. Mwah hah hah.

And I'm aware of the MP3.com fake ads, I've had a few of those. It was a different one- one of those ones where you have to put in the email addresses of everyone you know, trying to guess who it is. Which is stupid, because then they go and spam them, saying "someone you know has a crush on you..." and starts the whole thing over again. Talk about viral marketing...

masonic boom, Friday, 8 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link
