doom-e, Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

was he interviewd for Drukqs? maybe that's why--he doesn't wanna answer questions about THAT piece of shit.

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

druckqs had a few good tracks on i thought, but there were too many, and the good ones were lost among the deluge...

so, do we have a track listing for this?

Is this for real?

man, Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Methinks Aphex is getting a little big for his britches. His music has gone way down hill but you can'y blame him for doing a little cashing in -- what with dreck like Moby making so much of the green.

christoff (christoff), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

it's real, I got beaten to the tracklist punch.

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

its surprisingly averagey.

its GREAT to see that cool rmx of DMX Krew ~ You Can't Hide Your Love out again though. i love that track!

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Krieger - Baldhu Mix is a good one, the rest I don't know.

jot eff pe, Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

The Gavin Bryars remix is possibly the best thing Aphex Twin ever did outside "Xtal", it's from the Donkey Rhubarb period, similar to "Pancake Lizard", but he only includes the edit! The seven-minute version is much better, as it allows the ambient source material more time to register.

Chris Ott (Chris Ott), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

It's for real (it's out in March I think) and a bit overdue. I only know 4 of these remixes. The Jesus Jones one is nothing special. The Takemura and Glass remixes are pretty weird. The Mescalinum United one is a total classic.

Omar (Omar), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 19:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I've only heard the Takemura and Mike Flowers remixes but both are classics. I think this album could be pretty good actually. Aphex does usually bring somethiing interesting to his remixes.

phil jones (interstar), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Do we know which ones are remixes, and which ones are previous tracks he just gave to them to pay for his tank? That Seefeel one is fantastic , and he did another one of the same track which is just as good.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

What does the 'created by Aphex Twin' remix for NIN mean? Is that an original piece of composition for Trent or a remix? Has it been released before? Anyone?

Michael Dieter, Thursday, 16 January 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

At the Heart of It All appeared on Further Down the Spiral (1995). At AMG the credits for the song are James/Reznor.

man, Thursday, 16 January 2003 00:55 (twenty-two years ago)

OK

I just read about it. Apparently, it isn't a remix - there's a Japanese release that credits the track completely to James?

In any case, I mention it because of that classic Aphex myth about creating/composing music for people anonymously. It would've have been cool...

Michael Dieter, Thursday, 16 January 2003 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

the Saint Etienne remix is excellent clanking industrialia. He wasn't really interviewed for Drukqs but he did release a q&a thing for mags/sites to use. Here it is, in case yr interested.

Charlie (Charlie), Thursday, 16 January 2003 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

No, the NIN tracks are aphex-style remixes. Meaning he sampled the NIN tracks and used the samples to make new arrangements. If I recall correctly they sound like underwater basic channel tracks.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 16 January 2003 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

In the liner notes to Further Down the Spiral it says that At the Heart of it All and the Beauty of Being Numb Part B are "created by Richard D. James." I always thought they were his own tracks that had nothing to do with NIN.

lou (lou), Thursday, 16 January 2003 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

two years pass...
is this any good?
i keep looking at the 5 star amg review.

Aerodynamic (Aerodynamic), Saturday, 21 May 2005 01:02 (twenty years ago)

well some of it is amazingly good and a lot of it is average to good, with a few meh-ish tracks. if you like aphex you will like it. it's definitely a better release than 'Drucqks'.

latebloomer: B Minus Time Traveler (latebloomer), Saturday, 21 May 2005 03:25 (twenty years ago)

druqks is my favourite aphex release...

Aerodynamic (Aerodynamic), Saturday, 21 May 2005 03:27 (twenty years ago)

really? well then you'll probably enjoy this one.
