LA, mathy metal trio (voice, guitar and drums). Super rhythmic and heavy. Every time I listen to the cd my blood starts to flow. My fiance doesn't really like it when I mosh with her in the living room.

They're pretty fun live too. they all wear military looking outfits and the lead singer, Skot, wears leather gloves and has a super short mic stand. he even sings in a faux british accent.

i say classic, what say you?

any metal band that gets their name from a francois truffaut film is classic.

yeh - i thought this was about french cinema. can we make it about that instead? who liked amelie?

But "the 400 Blows" should not be a "mathy metal trio."

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

dang. I thought this one was going to be about the tune by London, Ontario's Demics (circa 1980?)... Heck of a song. Never seen the film, but it seems real smart for a garage band to name a song after an interlectual french film, don't it?

I like that record "Black Rainbow" a good bit. Very spare and on the long side, yet their length didn't trouble me nor did their choice of instrumentation. I dunno how they managed to hold my interest for nearly an hour with the style of music they play and the generally banal lyrics, but they did. If AmRep were still around I could see them getting involved with a band like this.

ditto Mosurock. I've had to see them as openers for many a show in Los Angeles, out of will. They're really exciting for a song or two, but it gets really old and grating quick. I wish Sunday Duncan's Eye were still around.

HAHA, Sandy Duncan's Eye, excuse me.

there is a sort of Chinese water torture feeling when listening to their music. they pretty much play the same dropped D riff over into infinity, but that's half the fun. it's like terry riley playing metal

who liked amelie?

Nicole to thread...so she can KILL you. ;-)

Hasn't anyone pointed out that there's already a 400 Blows - London based experimental dance unit from the early to mid 80s, recorded for Illuminated Records, I've got their "If I kissed her I'd have to kill her first" LP somewhere.... I thought you were talking about them, not some metal band. Grrr.

I'm with Nabisco. The last thing I thought of when I heard the name was "mathy metal trio."

Never liked the film either, btw, but I might be in the minority on that one.

they had a great song with Charles Manson samples from his trial on it...("well, I don't know, it's not like I could put a computer or a track record on it")...
