Apparently, a new album came out this week. Does anyone care? Has anyone heard it?

Hey, I talked about it last week and you said NOT A WORD. Check your mail, you bum. ;-)

Of the three reunion albums, I like this one the best if only because I think they're finally used to the idea that they're never going to replace Pete DeFreitas. The eighties existence will never be paralleled at this rate, but it's an enjoyable enough listen.

You did??? Agh. Was it in a gigantic email with 5000 other albums in it? Because I didn't read those that carefully, oops.

Ian sings on it, right? You know, at one point I know I knew somethng about this album. Grr...

Dan Perry, Friday, 8 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It was a gentle, short mail with two other album reviews. Ha. ;-)

And yes, Ian sings on it. This is not 1990 Echo redux.

I had been hearing it was really awful, so I might have to look for some mp3s to suss this out.

It'll have to be good to better "Evergreen". I expect I'll pick it up eventually like the other two comeback albums - for a fiver in a used shop. Ned - you might know the answer to this - someone told me that Will Sergeant hardly played on "What are you going to do with your life?". Is this true? That would make it a Mac solo album!

I wouldn't be in the least surprised, let's put it that way. And while _Flowers_ doesn't rock out as much as _Evergreen_ sort of did on a couple of songs, I find the overall execution a bit better. Call this a _What Are You..._ that isn't about to fall asleep on you.

Always kind of a dud weren't they? If their reunion is as terrifying as Suicide 's in 1992, heaven help us. SOme people want the Clash to reunite. Why? "Bring on they dancing hairstylists"

-- Mike Hanley, Friday, 8 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, but the Clash have reunited! For an awards ceremony anyway. Paul S.'s tailor isn't goig to win any awards. If anyone could make this an active link I would be most grateful.

Funnily enough, Steady Mike suggested to me years ago that Oasis, of all people, had been the new Echo and the Bunnymen; or that Echo and the Bunnymen had been the old Oasis.

the pinefox, Friday, 8 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

reunions are a bad idea.

keith, Friday, 8 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mac has FINALLY admitted Neil Diamond as an influence. So now you know.

'Flowers' sounds like Kid Silver's 'Dead City Sunbeams', only not as good. That's still the best Echo comeback album yet.

eight years pass...

I picked up the first reunion album, "Evergreen", and it has it's moments but it simply couldn't stand up to their first 5 albums. I stopped paying attention at that point, I imagine each album has had some worthwhile tracks but Mac's best days seem far behind him.
