another year and another completely boring bunch of songs itermingled with the occassional gem. ofcourse, the foo fighters deserve to have one of their recent songs here... but THREE!!!. and, fer crisakes, GRINSPOON (for those outside australia - a completely dull sub-punk band with melodic intent) have 3 as well - lowest common demoninator in excellsis. The QotSA song is terrific but i just can't help feeling that it's, perhaps, NOT the most interesting thing released last year.
and, lastly, whilst announcer adam spencer had his little bit of fun and breaks up the cd of 'hot in here' after pretending that it's number 1...
can he just get a grip and realize that, yes, even though it's basically a crap tune, it's also more instantly appealing that most anything in the triple J's top 100.

urgh. Triple J's whole approach is just so horrible. You know they're always going to play those annoying one-hit novelty acts, the various cookie-cutter "Triple J" bands like your Grinspoons and whatnot (the only one of these that has grown at all is Silverchair), the same obsession with the grunge sound like it's still 1993, and throw in token bits of dance or nasal, Australian rap. And yes, Adam Spencer and the idiot cohort should be strung up, not for their Nelly-crushing but for the painful unfunniness of their "gags".
Hmmm, that's quite a sour first impression I'll be making here!

That Top 25 is completely depressing, aside from QOTSA and Eminem.
Two fuckin Machine Gun Fellatio songs in the Top 10? Says a lot about the state of JJJ (and it's listeners) these days.
