(I'm generally a lurker here on ILM, and I am happy to finally ask a question of you all. Thanks in advance.)

Sub-question: Should I consider pop-rap artists like Icy Blu and Betty Boo to be anything other than historical curiosities?

one of the girls was in DJ Shitbird and the Ultimate Party Machine. they're supposed to have an 8 year old girl in the group, but since she can't stay out late or tour, one of the girls from KIT "sings" for them. if anyone from SF has a chance to see them, they are the stupidest fun you will ever have.

So, am I the only person who doesn't hate Princess Superstar...in fact actually really really digs her music?

i've only seen DJ shit bird once, in the backyard at a house party. my friend erik (crack, big techno werewolves) is in the band. i seemed to be one of the only people at the party having fun. the rest of the crowd was too cool to dance. i think had i not known erik, i too would have thought it was dumb. i mean the only thing she sang the whole night was "PARTY! PARTY! PARTY! WE CAME TO PARTY!" over stupid 200bpm techno beats.

YES! Betty Boo is great and her style will have influenced very many of the popier rappers, especially in the UK.

Er, all the Portuguese in Portugal certainly consider themselves white.

Also the girl doing the ragga-style toasting on Ezee Possee's 'Everything Starts With An E' is white and (apparently) awfully, awfully well spoken.
If you're really really desperate or want some light relief look to Alternate's MC Crazy Claire, the six year old daughter of their label manager.

Sorry, proper English took a hold of me there, which just wont do when talking about early nineties rave.
