I'm sitting here at work listening to "Pussy" by Lords of Acid. IT occurs to me that I can't be the only one around here who likes to giggle at the occasional stupid double-entendre. Fess up, y'all!

"Poop Ship Destroyer" by Ween

Fight For Your Right. Y'know. The Beasties. I think it may have *said* something to me when I was 16. Don't really like 'em now.

Will this do?

DavidM, Thursday, 14 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'd say "Fuck My Shit Stinks" by the Dayglo Abortions, but that's probably TOO stupid. So how about "If It Was Broken You'd Be Screaming" by Happy Flowers? Or "Institutionalized" by Suicidal Tendencies? Not that I listen to either of those much anymore, either.

"If this Gun were Real, I Could Shoot You and Sleep in the Big Bed with Mommy" - the Happy Flowers

alex in nyc, Thursday, 14 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I suspect that there are a ton of Happy Flowers songs that would qualify here, especially since they're truly juvenile (perspective, that is)...they cleaned my cut out with a WIRE BRUSH! Yay!

Sean Carruthers, Thursday, 14 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Okay, CLEARLY I need to do some investigation into the Happy Flowers...

Dan Perry, Thursday, 14 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Happy Flowers = Homestead Records band from the late 80s / early 90s. Puerile, for damn sure. The only commericially available sorta- in-print song of theirs (that I know of) is on the _Human Music_ compilation. "I Wanna Be Adopted" is the song. A nice li'l slice of Half-Japanese-esque ranting & raving - "You don't let me do anything I want!!"; "I want to live with somebody else!" Could this be what the Frogs sound like, perchance?

(I'd recommend the compilation to the following - anyone looking for a cool live version of the Clean's "Oddity"; anyone that wants to sample the wares of the primo Flying Nun Records line-up - Verlaines, Chills, Tall Dwarfs, Clean; anyone interested in what indie-rock was before "indie-rock"; anyone that wants to hear Yo La Tengo cover a really shitty Eddie Money song. Available @ CDNow for $8.49 US. It's fantastical.)

I nominate any song by Wesley Willis. It's an old joke, and (if I think about it too hard) it isn't that funny, but I laugh despite myself. "Rock over London / Rock on Chicago / insert comment about abusing animals / insert ad slogan." Gets me every time.

"Sugar Sugar" by the Archies.

"Givin' Up the Nappy Dugout" by Ice Cube. "Jewish Princess" by Frank Zappa.

Anything by the Frogs or the Silbury Rugby Union

When I was 7 I used to crack up listening to Zappa's "Why Does It Hurt When I Pee". Didn't even know what it was about. My mother broke the record. I asked her what was wrong with it and she said it was "just sick and don't ever mention it to anybody" and wouldn't tell me why.
Am I the only person whose favorite REM song is "Stand"? That's a pretty silly song.

The baby fell out of the window
You'd think that her head would be split
But good luck was with her that morning
She fell in a pile of shhhhhhhhhAVIng CREAM!

'Pinhead' The Ramones

Stevo, Friday, 15 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tarden - yeah "Stand" is the only REM song I can stand. Reason - 'cause it was the theme music for this TV comedy called "Get A Life" starring Chris ("The Cabin Boy") Elliot & it played while he did his paper round on a bike & at the end of the credits he bailed off his sickle 'cause he was looking at some girl or something. Did anyone else like that show? Not here, nobody remembers it & it never got repeated .

Duane Zarakov, Friday, 15 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I hearted "Get a Life" -- I've even been pondering buying the dvd of some of the episodes.

Favorite juvenile song: "I is the Jock and You is the Homeboy" by the Raunchy Young Lepers.

Nicole, Friday, 15 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

'Get a Life' - YESSSSS!!!

tarden, Friday, 15 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Do you guys remember the "Get A Life" episode where he traps himself and his father inside of the homade submarine in his shower? That's the only one I can remember, yet the sheer lunacy of the episode premise highlights why I liked that show so much...

BTW, I'm thinking of tracking down all of these suggestions and making a "pulll my finger" mixtape.

"Quit 'cho lyin', heifer/WATCH YO'SELF!"

LOVE that song. It'll break up the style of the tape, too.

Dan Perry, Friday, 15 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My favourite juvenile song at the moment is You & Whose Army.

Keir Hardie, Saturday, 16 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Someone sharing a name with the founder of the Labour Party describing a song that has been widely interpreted as an attack on Tony Blair as "juvenile".

This is *very* curious ...

Robin Carmody, Saturday, 16 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Put it in your mouth" Akynelle.

Also, "Girls" by the Beasties, not "Figt For Your Right"
