...is quite good, but not amazing. The tracks with Tweedy singing seem to work better, but only cos I find whatsisface's voice particularly uncharacterful. *Experimental* seems to mean, in this context, playing formless alt.country jams very slowly and with lots of whirring noise in the background and some pleasant, understated drums. All in all it's very nice, but it's never gonna mean anywhere near as much to me as YHF. And it seems to be dead expensive too in HMV (£15 for 6 tracks over 35 minutes? COME ON people!).

Domino's new website is selling it for under a tenner at the moment, in their sale.

It is £10.99 at HMV on Oxford Circus, and prob. even cheaper than that down Berwick St. way. Besides, most CDs are too long, anyway.

As a 'whatshisface' partisan who has never knowingly enjoyed a Wilco rec before, my fave track is 'Elegant Transaction', 'cos O'Rourke's super-snide lyrics are much better than Tweedy's sappy rural-mystic wistfulness, and I like the sound of Jim O's fingerpickin' Faheyisms against Wilcoman's banjo. I think the whole rec is something of a grower, in fact.

this album is a bore.

remember the time you first got a tape recorder or a camcorder and you taped about45 minutes of the coolest shit in the world? And then you played it back for your mom or friends and they were bored stiff?

This album is inconsequential to the hilt. Mudane and pleasant, too.
