Hi there, I'm Derrick.
I'm 19, living in Vancouver BC, and am currently studying Canadian history at SFU.
My favourite band is probably Saint Etienne. My other favourite bands are probably Destroyer, Zumpano, and lately, the Sea and Cake.

My favourite songs at the moment are Glen Campbell's 'Wichita Lineman' and Belle and Sebastian's 'Photo Jenny'.

also, is it true that vancouver to victoria is the shortest commercial flight in the world, or did i dream that?

I thought the shortest commercial flight was somewhere in Scotland? About three minutes or something stupid like that.

Thanks, folks. this seems like a fun place.

I love One Bedroom. Totally, unabashedly love it. Hotel Tell and Four Corners are particular standouts. It also lives up to the incredible cover photo, just as Oui did!

I bet there are shorter flights out there, but Victoria-Vancouver is up there. Sensible people just take the ferry ;)

Jez, the instrument that you hear in the outtro of "Wichita Lineman" is Jimmy Webb's pipe organ. If it's that vibrating sound you're thinking of.
