From the unofficial Soulseek FAQ site: It's a temporary situation

i seriously doubt the validity of that thread. frist off the RIAA is American rite? and soulseek is based in Europe. What authority do they have over there?

as for messages all ive been getting is a "unable to connect" when i try.

What is this Piolet "Mike" refers to? Has anyone tried it/Is it any good?

A news blurb with actual correspondence from Nir: slyck.com

While I was there, I downloaded the Piolet app to see if it was any good. After waiting over 15 minutes to connect to the server, I turned it off and said good riddance. Bah...if anyone has a better result, let me know and I'll try it again.

News as to why Nir is switching web hosts remain unclear. There are unconfirmed threads stating that the RIAA has filed an injunction against Soulseek. http://www.filespree.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=921
If you read German, you can also find more information on this on the unofficial Soulseek forum: here. http://www.soulseek.de.vu/ We have emailed Nir, and hope to provide resolution to this situation in the near future.

Worrying. I thought slsk was safe from RIAA because it was so small. But perhaps eliminating small p2ps before they get too big like Audiogalaxy and Napster etc makes it easier for them.

Just fired it up. The way the search results are presented is WAY different.

in a good way? i fired it up for the first time in years last night just to get something off the 90s electronic poll that isn't on spotify, couldn't be bothered to get the new version.

A new new version? There's been a new client for a while now, but last time I tried to use it (about 6 months ago) it was not stable at all and crashed all the time, which was a shame cos I quite liked it otherwise.

A new new version?

Yes. I got a pop-up announcing it when I used it the other night. Still undecided about downloading it, though.

is it a new interface for the same network or a separate new version client with different users?

tried it quickly yesterday, wasnt really feeling it. some of the new features are ok but table tree main search results looked terrible
