"Trouble" is great.

Taking sides; Shampoo vs Daphne & Celeste vs The Cheeky Girls.

Nick H (Nick H), Wednesday, 27 June 2001 03:20 (twenty-four years ago)

Girl Power. And Trouble, obviously.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Wednesday, 27 June 2001 03:27 (twenty-four years ago)

one year passes...
The album of T.A.T.U. got me interested.... So which ones are the best?

Panagiotis Pileidis (Panagiotis Pileidis), Thursday, 6 February 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

"School Is Boring."

Aside from that, I'm not a big fan: "Trouble" is terrible.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 6 February 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Trouble was great! I have the album, but not much of the rest of it was very good, I thought.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 6 February 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Blisters and Bruises!

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 6 February 2003 22:33 (twenty-two years ago)

"bouffant headbutt" by miles.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Friday, 7 February 2003 06:32 (twenty-two years ago)

'kinky ken' is unbelievably good.
it was the b. side of trouble.

piscesboy, Friday, 7 February 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know their "Blisters and Bruises" (much to my shame - see my email address !) but I loooove the Spring cover version. Therefore it has to win my vote.

Darren, Friday, 7 February 2003 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I know what boys like & Viva la megababes were good, also.

Kate Dornan, Friday, 7 February 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

two years pass...
yes

jody heatherton (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 18 July 2005 11:00 (twenty years ago)

i was so wrong: "trouble" is great!!

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 18 July 2005 11:11 (twenty years ago)

i didn't know there were any more songs than trouble. but i did love it. it was (is) pretty catchy.

gem (trisk), Monday, 18 July 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

haha j.d. i was gonna say!

jody heatherton (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 18 July 2005 11:16 (twenty years ago)

I really like that "Shiny Black Taxi Cab" song. I don't know,"Bouffant Headbutt" is probably the best, though.

I still haven't heard that unreleased (or released only in Japan maybe?) third album. It's my Holy Grail.

I Should Coco Schwab (Arthur), Monday, 18 July 2005 12:05 (twenty years ago)

Glimmer Globe is a good one. Also Shampoo You. Of course it's been a while...I think both their albums are about half good.

everything, Monday, 18 July 2005 22:14 (twenty years ago)

I Love Little Pussy

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 00:05 (twenty years ago)

It's a great title, but not as good as the A-side.

kit brash (kit brash), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 02:03 (twenty years ago)

They were totally over-sold in Japan, so you could find Shampoo's album & EP's for equiv. of $1 or less! "Trouble" is the hit, with a really funny video.

SoHoLa (SoHoLa), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 04:19 (twenty years ago)

we are shampoo may very well be the best album of the '90s.

jody heatherton (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 05:30 (twenty years ago)

Another vote for Shiny Black Taxi Cab. I played this recently and I was surprised at how 90's it sounds. At the time I thought it was bouncy leftfield pop, but a lot of the guitar parts reminded me of Sleeper, Elastica etc.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 08:26 (twenty years ago)

Please not to ruin my Shampoo love by comparing them to fucking Sleeper kthxbye.

Scream! Scrovula, Scream! (noodle vague), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 08:30 (twenty years ago)

Only the guitars! I still love Shampoo.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 08:35 (twenty years ago)

Sorry. Grumpy hungover kneejerk Sleeperhate.

Scream! Scrovula, Scream! (noodle vague), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 08:41 (twenty years ago)

where is the love for "game boy"?!?!

jody heatherton (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 08:48 (twenty years ago)

That is fine and understandable Noodle.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 08:51 (twenty years ago)

didn't they cover Gary Numan's "Cars"?

ZionTrain (ZionTrain), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 14:22 (twenty years ago)

In "viva le megababes" (I think) the line about "I wanna drive the next door neighbors mad" I used to think was "I wanna jump the next door neighbour's lad"

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

I was thinking about Shampoo only this morning, while listening to that Queens Of Noize track about Indie Boys.

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

seven years pass...

I was just sitting here thinking "what is the most ridiculous poppy thing I can listen to right now?" and my brain immediately went to Shampoo. Thank goodness it was on spotify, because trying to recreate these sounds from just memory wouldn't have been the fun I was looking for.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 20 February 2013 19:20 (twelve years ago)

I thought this was a thread for the movie Shampoo--was going to suggest "Wouldn't It Be Nice" or "Manic Depression."

clemenza, Wednesday, 20 February 2013 19:25 (twelve years ago)

I've not seen Shampoo, but I'll look up the soundtrack for later afternoon enjoyment.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 20 February 2013 19:25 (twelve years ago)

two years pass...

bloody hell, how great is 'girl power'!?

not sure i have ever listened to the rest of the album though.

time to possibly rectify that.

mark e, Saturday, 18 July 2015 17:46 (ten years ago)

"You Love It" and "We Play Dumb" were my faves. Really hoping I didn't sell my copies of Girl Power during one of my CD purges now.

The New Gay Sadness (cryptosicko), Saturday, 18 July 2015 18:11 (ten years ago)

well, i really enjoyed that.
so glad it was still hidden in the archive.
so much fun.
'we play dumb' was a definite highlight.
onto westworld now.

mark e, Saturday, 18 July 2015 18:14 (ten years ago)

putting in a word for 'Zap Pow'

https://www.debaser.it/resize.aspx?path=/files/2012%2F37507.jpg&width=250

the spotify page for Shampoo also includes this album, which is by a different Shampoo, "an Italian tribute/parody band from Naples, who enjoyed a short period of popularity in the early Eighties as spoofers of The Beatles" according to wiki

Balkan-Boogie (soref), Saturday, 18 July 2015 18:17 (ten years ago)

I read somewhere that Lawrence from Felt/Denim/Go Kart Mozart wrote some songs for Shampoo under a pseudonym, does anyone know which ones?

"’E zizze" (Tits) – Parody of "Day Tripper" (soref), Saturday, 18 July 2015 18:24 (ten years ago)

no !?

had no idea of that .. would make total sense though.

mark e, Saturday, 18 July 2015 18:28 (ten years ago)

ok, checked the sleevenotes of shampoo or nothing!
all songs are credited to the girls, except 'i know what boys like', which is credited to chris butler.

mark e, Saturday, 18 July 2015 18:32 (ten years ago)

wikipedia says it was 'Blisters And Bruises', their first single

"’E zizze" (Tits) – Parody of "Day Tripper" (soref), Saturday, 18 July 2015 18:33 (ten years ago)

also 'Paydirt', both under the name 'Discotheque USA'

"’E zizze" (Tits) – Parody of "Day Tripper" (soref), Saturday, 18 July 2015 18:34 (ten years ago)

'Trouble' is the only one that I remember. Yes, it was catchy. No, I've never rated it.

You’re being too simplistic and you’re insulting my poor heart (Turrican), Saturday, 18 July 2015 20:22 (ten years ago)

Glimmer Globe and Me Hostage from the first album are two of their best.

everything, Saturday, 18 July 2015 20:30 (ten years ago)

two years pass...

we are shampoo may very well be the best album of the '90s.
― jody heatherton (Jody Beth Rosen),

brave at the time.
however, I think JBR could be onto something.
