Ok. "L'Eau Rouge" was a fave of mine when it first appeared, and I remember being a fan. But I lost them after that. Still worth listening to? Or was I just an impressionable lad and the whole drummer+sampler+ growly French vocals thing a horrid mistake ?

Arent they just a bad gothic industrial metal band? Might be a different band, the stuff i heard was in english.

No.

I love everything up to and including their kurt weill album. I bought one album after that and didn't listen to it much. The first two albums are excellent. If you like that sort of thing.

" The first two albums are excellent "
-- Scott Steward's statement - seconded, basically.
Though listen-worthy songs, in remarkably scarcer evidence, are on further records as well ...here and there, now and again... Hm, should relisten to that Weill rekkid, mebbe...

The Young Gods were *NEVER* goths.

Everything up through L'EAU ROUGE is magnificent, particularly "Envoye" and "Rue Des Tempettes," although I wasn't especially wild about the Kurt Weill record (great concept, dubious execution). Lost interest a bit when they started singing in English (revealing some crap lyrics along the way). "Our House" is great. "Skin Flowers" was embarassing.

The Swiss band, right? Sort of quasigoth in that Killing Joke way, I always thought.

Paula G., Friday, 7 February 2003 18:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Heh heh heh. Alex's love for them is proved without him having to add anything!

(A great and wonderful band, I should note.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 February 2003 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I GOT YOUR 'QUASIGOTH' RIGHT HERE, SWEETHEART!

Note the Transylvannian gypsy doublet he's wearing, authentic down to the Carpathian embroidery. No sham Bela Lugosi capes for this dude! Quasigoth? What was I saying? More like urgoth.

Paula G., Friday, 7 February 2003 20:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, but would "urgoths" have the moxy to appear this ridiculous?

That's not a monkey, it's a pig. Oh wait, you wrote moxy.

Paula G., Friday, 7 February 2003 21:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Classic. Only Heaven was pretty damn good. Maybe it can't really stand up with TV Eye but its not bad at all. I haven't heard much beyond that(Their records are hard to come by). I love how spacious they sounded but still had those driving rhythms. Moon Revolutions...amazing.

Juan (Juan), Friday, 7 February 2003 23:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I meant TV Sky. Always screw up titles. Sorry about that one.
