I want people to discuss how this romp has affected their life. Mark P, I hope you want to say something.

In fact, I would state that the sublimity of this romp is beyond question, but subjectivity destroys the sentimentality of a man undergoing this thought process. I hope many of the world's population have been "tricked" into resorting to this kind of [you can enter what word you feel like - something vaguely approximating sublimity/hyperbole (i dislike "hyperbole" so it would have to deviate somewhat from that area]

I think it's gorgeous. It's like a dischordant Whiter Shade of Pale (a compliment from me, though I suppose some disagree). I love the way the pitch moves around on the choruses-it approximates the sound of crying. There's something immediately familiar about it as well. I saw the first ever performance of it live... And yet I immediately thought I had it heard it somewhere before. And not because of a familiarity in its structure, or really a familiarity to any other song... It just has something about it.
I'm not really much of a lyrics person, but I like the way the song seems to echo the lyrics at parts. It does feel like walking through a gale.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 8 February 2003 02:46 (twenty-three years ago)

how did you people hear it?

Evan (Evan), Saturday, 8 February 2003 02:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I heard it live in Portugal and Spain, I'm assuming Mr. Naked as Sin here has heard a live bootleg via MP3.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 8 February 2003 02:52 (twenty-three years ago)

It says "fuck off". If yr comparing it to "Whiter Shade Of Pale" then u hav 2 state dat it is lake dat except it says "fuck off". It's like "In Limbo" in the sense that it completely molests me, and makes me think that the 'Head cd prolly beat me up.

naked as sin (naked as sin), Saturday, 8 February 2003 02:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Phenomenomally, yr sorta rite, M to the W.

naked as sin (naked as sin), Saturday, 8 February 2003 02:54 (twenty-three years ago)

What is with your new vernacular?

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 8 February 2003 02:56 (twenty-three years ago)

(It is just a bit unintelligible)

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 8 February 2003 02:56 (twenty-three years ago)

a natural progression, ultimately. i can't rilly stop it.

naked as sin (naked as sin), Saturday, 8 February 2003 03:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that u, Evan Streb? All my old friend coming back on here, wassup, it's ikshvaku from rs.com

Vic, Saturday, 8 February 2003 06:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Scatterbrain is nice, but I personally prefer Myxomatosis. Radiohead on acid is a nice thing to watch.

JP Almeida (JP Almeida), Saturday, 8 February 2003 19:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yah it's me. Been a long time. What was it, three years ago? Four years ago?

Evan (Evan), Saturday, 8 February 2003 19:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Ages ago..I think I've known you/known of you, for 5 years now, as I started over there in '98. Well late '98, so 4.5 years to get technical. How did you find this crazy place? Are you still over there - and still obsessed with Murmur ? = )

Vic (Vic), Sunday, 9 February 2003 00:03 (twenty-three years ago)

jp watched?

naked as sin (naked as sin), Sunday, 9 February 2003 01:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd jus like 2 say, "Sail Young Blood 2 da Moon". Wanna talk "We Suck Young Blood", let's talk about it.

naked as sin (naked as sin), Sunday, 9 February 2003 01:44 (twenty-three years ago)

"Scatterbrain" unarguably evokes the feeling of dark rooms and mild comfort. But even within that appealing (prone to indulgence) context it excites its listener so it's phenomonally not complacent.

naked as sin (naked as sin), Saturday, 15 February 2003 02:05 (twenty-three years ago)

"phenomonally not" misdirects the sentence irreversibly.

naked as sin (naked as sin), Saturday, 15 February 2003 02:06 (twenty-three years ago)

's baby's a hard one to spell, isn't it?

naked as sin (naked as sin), Saturday, 15 February 2003 02:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey, it is Evan Streb! I thought that when I saw your name is Evan but didn't think it was all that likely. I'm still posting at rs.com, though only on two or three boards now.

lou (lou), Saturday, 15 February 2003 03:42 (twenty-three years ago)

By the way, I love Scatterbrain. It took me a while to warm up to it but now it's one of my favorite new/new old songs (along with Sit Down, Stand Up, Lift, There There, and Myxomatosis).

There's a good chance we'll be getting a tracklisting for LP6 sometime in the very near future, no?

lou (lou), Saturday, 15 February 2003 03:46 (twenty-three years ago)

four months pass...
This copyright issue (the CD is copyrighted-protected everywhere except America) is a bif F You to the United States? Anyone else feel that way?

Chris Morgan, Wednesday, 18 June 2003 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't get that, chris. isn't it a big f*ck you to the rest of the world? if it is copy-protected there? i am quite pissed off that i can't listen to the cd on my old computer cd-rom drive. the cd spins like crazy and i can listen to small segments which are interrupted by long pauses. next time i won't by their cd and will stay with the mp3s. as they at least work in my cd-rom drive. what is this the free stuff works and the stuff you pay for doesn't? i feel cheated by radiohead. this copy-protected thing will hopefully kill the record industry.

alex in mainhattan (alex63), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

"by their cd" should of course read "buy their cd"

alex in mainhattan (alex63), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, they had no control over it.
But it would piss me off too.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 07:49 (twenty-two years ago)

It is a sad day for the record industry when it is EASIER for fans to go on the internet and illegally download MP3s than it is to go and legally purchase a CD and attempt to enjoy it. Do the words "shooting themselves in the foot" ring any bells with anyone?

That had nothing to do with anyone. But it pisses me off that I bought 3 CDs this weekend, and can't play a single one in my computer. I barely *own* a CD player any more, I had to dig it out.
