Graham Coxon's solo work: C or D?

IMHO, I think the man is a genius (though he doesn't sing that well). The first two solo albums were pure experiment and discovery, but the latter two are great works of Indie music. I really fear for Blur now that he's gone. Opinions?

Nabisco to thread! He's the great defender of Coxon solo and we've had some other threads on him. As for me, I will say nothing except...well, bleah.

awful freaking tuneless dud, and i'm sure its awfulness is totally contrived. that said, i haven't heard the most recent album, which i gather is an improvement.

Cool track, not entirely surprising. I'm very fond of his guitar playing in Blur, the way he pushes against the grain of the track and cuts through the mix in the 'Green Onions' tradition, it's so visceral and deliberate. Not usually fond of his solo material from what I've heard and the guitar is more by the numbers on a lot of it. But some of the stuff on his vanity label was way cool, especially Bunsen Honeydew.

I never loved Blur b/c Damon is too jazz hands, but Graham is probs my favorite rick guitar player of the 90s. The Sky is Too High was pants.

Listening to City Lights, the second album from The Waeve (Coxon and Rose Elinor Dougall), and really loving it. Glad to see it's a going thing and not just a one-off.
