Gravity. They cover a broader spectrum of music and have numerous undeniable classics (Heroin, Antioch Arrow, Lava, UOOA, Born Against, MITB, Tristeza, Angel Hair, etc.)

Also, GSL has a few BAD records. 31G doesn't have enough releases to be classic yet. Although, the Unbroken stuff is amazing.

i think the 31g black dice 7" is one of the loveliest things ever. for that alone they reach classic status
and don't they have a death row/bad boy style beef with tmu?

yeah, you could definitely add a few more labels to the contest...

i think gsl definitely lives in gravity's shadow.... 31g has always come off a bit more extreme to me and perhaps it is the artwork.

my only beef with gravity is that in the last few years it's sorta ground down. it's become the past.

i guess nothing is forever...

Gravity or 31G; I really loathe nearly everything put out on GSL records (except the AOR/Locust split and the Mohinder discography.)

Gravity has some great stuff, but I don't see how the fuck you get off calling Tristeza a classic (and Lava are good, but also not "classic"), and Born Against were really more of a Vermiform band (they released, what, two songs on Gravity?)

31G gets props for the Arab on Radar stuff they're reissuing as well as the Swing Kids reissues and Unbroken stuff. Can't say I care much for their other releases, though.

gravity has the best track record out of all those labels. GSL went downhill the second the deal w/ IMD started up. that gogogoairheart s/t LP is the beginning of the end; now they traffick every band in LA who sounds like the Gun Club or 45 Grave along with the also-rans of Europe's indie rock poop-shoot of last year. I mean JR Ewing are cool and all but didn't every HC kid who figured out natural black from blue-black hair dye have their records a few years ago? three.one.g is a completely deplorable label; wish that Moving Units record was the last nail in the coffin but i think the worst is yet to come.

given all of that, i think they are all better than Troubleman.

no, the reason i wanted to compare those 3 alone is cuz they're all based in san diego and they all have the letter 'G' in their names
way to almost kill the thread dude

purely on historical effect, Gravity wins by a landslide what with what it did to screw up hardcore to make it interesting again by rescuing it from its cul-de-sac. Bands like Heroin, Antioch Arrow, Angelhair, etc are seminal.

GSL was originally in Colorado, then SF.
