How far do your kids drag you to see a band?

Ok, so since I have dragged my kid 3000 miles to see Mission of Burma last year and am doing the same thing again this week (and she's not necessarily happy about it, "Ma, you can only understand the words in one song. That one about the revolver."...I thought it only fair that she can drag me to see her bands, so now we are set up to go to LA (from SF) to see the Foo Fighters, even though they will be playing this area as well. ("Ma, we can see em when they get here too.")

So how far would you/have you for your kid's fave band? What's the band?

Problems with the Foo Fighters, Burma?

jm (jtm), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 00:09 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, there are limits to how many times I can listen to Low in one 24 hr period.

You know I like the Food Fighters well enough but they aint no Mission of Burma.

And how come no matter what room in the house you are in, the kid has to use the stereo in THAT room?

I just have to say at this point that BurmaKitty is unquestionably one of my new fave posters on the boards. "Kick-ass!" (said Cartman style).

Not having kids, I can't properly answer the question.

However, I've been tempted to drag my cousins (the older ones... 11, 13) to a few shows. I wanted them to see Lightning Bolt and Will Oldham. On the other hand, there's no way they could drag me to see Nickle Creek, the Dixie Chicks, Avril Lavigne or any of the other stuff they listen to. Maybe Avril Lavigne; she's kinda cute if you can avoid that she looks like a rat, and her songs are catchy enough. No way would I go see the others though.

She does have a rather fearful look on her face.

BurmaKitty, your #1 parental duty right now is to put blank CD labels on all of her Foo Fighters CDs and then, in a few days, replace them all with Husker Du CDs that also have blank labels on them. She won't be able to tell the difference.

Oh, and I'm not ignoring your email. I'm going to reply to it tomorrow when I have more time.

Several years ago, I made my parents drive me to see Morrissey (4 hours). I bought the ticket, then told mom I was going. When she refused to give me permission to go, I explained that there was no way I'd to be able to find anyone to buy my ticket off me.

Ah! BRILLIANT IDEA. I would have a much easier time listening to 24hrs of Husker Du. Not that I am putting down my former SUBORDINATE Dave Grohl just because I had to practically fire him myself (See post on:
You know you're getting old when... ) ...it's just that, well I could be listening to something else a lot of the time.

Christine, I look forward to your response. Many apologies again for all the nonsense. I am optimistic that it has been put to a rest and here's hoping I don't get kicked off of this message board in the meantime.

Poppy, looks like you pulled a fast one.

James, I may not be the best Mom, just the biggest smart ass that happens to have a kid.

Jess, what the heck are you talking about?
