BurmaKitty's kid wants to know what happened to the old Foo Fighter's drummer. She says the guy on the new LP doesn't look like the guy on the self-titled release and this concerns her.

Dave played drums on the first Foo's record, but then hired ex-Sunny Day Real Estate drummer Will Goldsmith, who was later replaced by ex-Alanis Morrissette touring drummer Taylor Hawkins (who is currently still with them).

Well shit!

Why is she not concerned with the whereaboots of Pat Smear?

William Goldsmith went back to playing drums in Sunny Day Real Estate until they broke up in 2001. Then three-fourths of SDRE (including Will) formed The Fire Theft and are currently finishing up an album.

I have talked to the kid myself concerning the Pat Smear situation with FF.
After listening to FF cover Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar" on the BRIEFCASE import I explained to her that this song may have been sung by them as a goodbye to Mr. Smear. However, I was talking out of my ass at the time and may be guilty of passing on some bad information to her since I had forgotten the departure of Mr. Stahl from the band as well. She did enjoy the line about missing the GRAVY TRAIN.
It must be noted that I am not a big FF fan. I like Dave's other band, SCREAM, much better.
If you are wondering.... I am not the kid's mother!

HA!

I laughed so hard the kid is telling me to keep it down...she's freaking out because some damn nirvana song is on the radio and she's trying to hear the drums. Apparently jimmythemod's comment sent me into hysterics for some reason and it's disrupting our peaceful home.

Hey Baby's Daddy!

I am glad that you did cover this important Pat Smear issuse because I don't think it's covered during Health and Hygiene class at catholic school.

I am sorry that I am remiss in my parental duties by not being able to clarify this myself.

Has anyone noticed that we don't all live together...or do we just have two computers and DSL?
